Ann GG~~

Think I know where Shaun means now, thanks to your last posting.
Do they serve hot filled rolls of your choice etc from their window ?
Think there's a chemist and Optician about opposite ?

Hubby's had rolls from there in the past but we've never been inside.

Hi All
Just heard on the news that some people have had to be rescued in Powys after their homes were flooded.
I do hope everyone is managing to keep safe and dry.
Take care

that's the one Sandie!!!

Nicholls is one of my favourite shops - lots of lovely things, good bargains and excellent service - my friend bought a dining table and chairs from there and they delivered to Cardiff at no charge

Nicholls is smart, but I thought their coffee was expensive, so went no further. It is downstairs, the restaurant.., so convenient, but dont know about their toilets. The cafe where they sell cooked meat and spuds to take away, its not too bad, but tables are rather cramped. Again, dont know about their toilets.

Jude ~~

Think that Nicholls in Aber is one level only, the one in Crickhowell is only on one floor but there are a few steps at the middle, sort of separting the frot and rear of the store.

Annie~~

Thanks for the offer, if I had a sweet tooth I get my brolly out and hey pesto ( not saying the long word starting with Supercalif.... ) I'd be there like Mary Poppins in this wind.

Tecwyn Report 6 Feb 2011 20:49

I can't tell you Dermot, but not that often. He does have a home here now, but I think it is not much used by him or the Duchess of Cornwall.
They do an annual tour of Wales of three days duration.

I was looking in 'my threads' and bookmarks and found this posted in 2008, so perhaps some may not have seen it., some will have, but it's worth a rerun.

Now that Catherine Zeta Jones Douglas has become firmly established in
Hollywood, the Welsh film industry is to receive additional funding to
step up production. They are going to remake many well known films but
this time with a Welsh flavour. Some of the following are for imminent
release
> Treforest Gump
> Cwmando
> The Lost Boyos
> An American Werewolf in Powys
> Huw Dares Gwyneth
> Dai Hard
> The Wizard of Oswestry
> Cool Hand Look-you
> Sheepless in Seattle
> The Eagle has LLandudno
> The Magnificent Severn
> The Welsh Connection
> Haverfordwest was Won
> Austin Powys
> The Magic Rhonddabout
> Independence Dai
> The Bridge on the River Wye
> A Beautiful Mind-you
> The Welsh Patient
> The Sheepshag Redemption
> Breakfast at Taffynys
> Look back in Bangor
> Evans can Wait
> A Fishguard called Rhondda
> Where Eagles Aberdare

The first remake released next week is Dial M for Merthyr. Please
contact the Welsh Office for translations where needed.

Hi All,

I like Nicholls in Aber, we usually go there for a hot drink while we're there, but we have had the odd meal there too, which was nice. But not sure how long we can stay there for, they might expect us to leave once we've eaten.

As you said Ann of GG, I too love going in the shop, and if I see something that I like for some people for Christmas or Birthday presents I buy them, even if it's earlier on in the year.

Love, Sallie.xx

Annie G, I know it's a bit late in the day, just want to wish you a Happy Birthday, and hope that you have had a lovely day.

Welshbird, like you I'm Welsh, but haven't lived in Wales for 32 years.
Like you, I'm still true to my roots and proud offamily living in Wales it. I still have some family living in Wales, but not as much now, unfortunately.

Well, I'm going to have a shower now, so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xx

I can't take the credit for my post about the Welsh film industry, it was in my bookmarks, but is funny and clever as you say.
I await the one on Nicknames ; I have seen one on here a while back I've forgotten it tho, so will have another laugh, even if it's the same one :)

Von~~~
Don't think we spoken before, nice to see you on here.

Just read your earlier post about people having to be rescued in Powys after their homes were flooded.
A man's body has been recovered from the river near Corwen.
I didn't realise the extent of the flooding or how many flood alerts had been issued ,this is link I saw it on
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-12373754
Dreadful isn't it.
Take care
Sandie.
