....and anyone else who wishes to pop in and say G'day.

All peeps are welcome :-)

The origional Wattle club thread ( Wattlers ) was first formed in 2004..between a small group of 6 or 7 Aussie's and one pom ( Ann'e Honeyrum ) who was visting Oz at the time from England....it was decided to form a thread ( Wattle Club ) on GR where Aussies could chat during our day, while our U.K mates were sleeping.......Over the years it had grown to 30 plus that were members or past members of GR.
The Wattler group hold a meet (BBQ )once a year covering most states.

The Golden "Wattle" is the Floral Emblem of Australia.

Tony, New Zealand moved away from Australia because our beautiful song birds couldnt get the kookaburras to stop their maniacal cackle and sing in tune.

Huia who was once one of the beautiful song birds but is now extinct :-(

Hello, Wattlers :-)

Yvette

Yvette Report 7 Jul 2011 22:13

I read about the Huia on Wikipedia.

Is that your interpretation of what happened or a real story. I actually like hearing kookaburras, but understand where you are coming from . lol
when you hear them it means its going to rain.

good morning

Morning from the East coast of Oz 7:30am Friday.....2hrs behind NZ 9:30am but 2hrs in front of the Aussie West coast 5:30am ...:-)

Forecast is Cloudy,wet and miserable 14c ( Melbourne )

Fred. Yes, i had spoken to the boss lady ( Lara ) a few weeks ago, and said about starting a new Wattlers thread, as the old one was missing posts from the first 100 pages!!

Kia Ora Huia.
Yes, was given an education regarding the now extinct Huia bird when we holidayed on the north island some years ago. Caused by deforestation, hunting, ect..... by our early european settlers.
Our tour guide told us a Huia feather once sold ( Auctioned ) for NZ$8,000.....amazing!!

G'day to everyone else that popped in....:-)

Time for some breakfast, then off out to work. There's bills to pay :-S

Av a good un

G'day everyone

I guess seeing as Melbourne was founded from Launceston makes me the older neighbour :-D

~~~ to Tony, Huia, Barbara, Cow Girl, GoldenGirl1, Yvette, JA, Dizzi, Badger and Joy, think thats all so far.
Cool here ATM great footy weather, and that all we will say about that pokes :-P at Tony.
Actually on that subject, Later this month Im going to a bit of a collection of interesting articles and stories of the great man himself, Roy Cazaly, as he coached my two favourite teams City and Hawthorn, it is well worth a look, even if he didnt have anything to to with those teams would still be worth seeing.
Hope you are all having a great time and look forward to chatting with you all on here :-)
