Morning from a much cooler Melbourne....:-)
( think its time they got rid of the smiley Santa...lol )

Huia. Congrats to you and all concerned on the birth of your great grandson. I still have a wait of about 9 to 10 years i reckon, to hold the title of Great grandad. I have 5 grandies and possibly one more still to come next year ( according to daughter number 2 )......and hopefully more from number 4 youngest daughter ( not married yet )

June. The pic is of my Dad in the RAAF ...world war 2, aged about 25..... He died when i was 12 years old, so i never really got to know him as a man, myself. He was my reason for starting the family tree. My four grandparents were also deceased before i was born in the late 40s...so i knew nothing about them either........But i do now ....;-)

Moonbi. I think its great for the young grandies to have swimming lessons. My lot are also having lessons, as we all go away together as a family on holidays, in Aussie and O/seas each year to many beaches, and various resorts that have pools.

Wishing all a great day/night.

Tony....:-)

cheers and HI to everyone,

im doing ok, the hot weather has been making me tired this week, so only going out toward evening to water my garden. The mozzies are especially bad this week, so using plenty of rid, to avoid bites. but I notice lots of midges too.

Tomorrow swim lessons start for G'son. he is in the third group this summer, as can do a "sort of" free style stroke. here in the local village pool they get 10 lessons for $65. so I thought that was a good deal and booked him in.

I really enjoyed having my 3 adult children with me in December. Son1 and his wife have now returned to to the frosty weather in Maine.

Son2 with be returning to cerberus to get ready for his graduation on 27th, Seaman Star. then he will go to category school for 6 months before being assigned to the fleet in August.

Best wishes to all and hope the new year fulfills our hopes

Congraulations Huia. A New Years Day baby eh? We had a thing on TV on New Years Day about twins born that previous night - one was before midnight so a birthdate of 31 Dec 2011, the other after midnight so a birthdate of 1 Jan 2012. I wonder how rare that woud be??

Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day in paradise. Those overseas people who have come at this time of year on the low season fares are doing well. This time last year we were getting rain dumped on us in big quantities. Like 200 mils in less that 4 hours. Creeks and rivers were flooded etc. but cyclone Yasi hadn't arrived yet. No good going to the Great Barrier Reef diving or snorkelling if the weather isn't good. Doesn't look as spectacular. But it would be gorgeous in this weather.

G'day guys and gals. I have driven down to Hamilton today (from up near Auckland) to see my gt grandson who was b on New Year's day. I took one of his other gt grandmothers with me. I took lots of photos and had somebody take some on my camera with 2 ggs, mother and son. I now have to crop some of them and lighten them up a bit.

Huia.

Pam.

You are only allowed on this thread if your a bit troppo,
mate...LOL ;-)

You did have me worried there for a minute though when i read your post. Thought perhaps you posted on the wrong thread...or that i had slept through January....and we were now in July :-D

Take care up there in the north, and can only hope there are no repeats of last years Cyclones... :-(

Off out to work myself......so Av a goodun ;-)

Tony, I feel like such a dill. Yes. I now realise that I was in error and has made my comments after only looking at a couple of pages. Please accept my apologies. You are absolutely correct. Am I allowed to beg 'gone troppo' or somthing? lol

A Happy New Year to you tony and to all. We are certainly faring better this year than last. By this time we'd been flooded in since 17Dec with several metres of water over the causeway. Cyclone Yasi was yet to happen but we were watching many possible cyclones forming off Fiji and Vanuatu on the .net. I've become quite the weather watcher since I moved up here from Sydney in 2001.

Thanks for the welcome and I'll certainly enjoy coming in here when work allows. have 3 days off at the moment which will no doublt soon fill up with house duties, I'm sure. :-P

Hi Pam.

Not sure what you mean by resurrecting this thead, as its active, and the last 3 postings were only a week ago on the 30th Dec.

Perhaps you are reading the thread from the day it was started?....July 2011Page 1 ( Wrong way round ) and not from the last message posted 30th Dec....Page 7 ;-)

Welcome to the thread anyway, and wishing you a happy new year.

Tony ( Melbourne )

Pamela

Pamela Report 5 Jan 2012 21:20

Any chance of resurrecting this thread? I think it would be great. Let me introduce myself. My name is Pam, I live in far north Qld, 14klm out from Kuranda which is up in the mountains from Cairns. I live on the Great Dividing Range near to where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. I work as a research interviewer for a well know Australian company - 3 years with them but 10+ years in the business. Love meeting people and talking to them about their likes and dislikes. It's always good for people to have a voice. Shame that so many people mix us up with tele marketers. We don't sell anything - just give you the opportunity to say what you think usually to the manufacturers of good, council, government and others.

Well I'm hoping that someone will reply to this. Although no one's been here since July 2011. Maybe someone will see it because this post will put it onto the first couple of pages so I'll cross my fingers.

Morning from a warm Melbourne.... :-)

4 day forecast is 32c...36c...38c....35c so summer is here ;-)

Hopeing everyone had a great christmas.

Barb and myself took two of our grandies down to Barb's sisters farm in Gippsland on boxing day. She lives on 50 acres of some of the most beautiful country side in Victoria, that over-looks the valley's and rolling hills of the East Gippsland region. The grandies were in their element riding on the tractor, and exploreing every nook and cranny, and young grandson James ( 5 year old ) was very surprised when we took him into the chook house to collect eggs. The look on his face was priceless when he discovered that eggs were not born in Woolies/Safeways and in cartons.....lol
Barb's sister and myself put on a display of "Stock-whip" cracking for them, and the sound of the whips cracking echoed through the valley's was a sound they have never heard before.
Took me back to my teenage years on the dairy farm where i spent some of my own years growing up,learning that milk comes from cows, and not made in bottles.....lol.
A 40 min walk down to the duck ponds and to see Margs horses, and as we went we Cooooeeeeeeee'd.......through the hillsides much to the grandies laugh's, as the echo's came bouncing back to them. ;-)
Barb decided to stay/wait at the house, as she has a fear of Joe-Blakes ( Snakes ).....lol
Marg's 5 kelpie dogs ploughed the way sniffing out any potential threat of any snakes, and would bark loudly to warn us of any danger. A great day was had by all.

Off to eldest daughters to-night to see in the New year celebrations, and for a spit roast with all the side salads and trimmings.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.....for the upcoming 2012.

Av a good un....aaaaand see ya next year.:-D

Tony ;-)
