Congraulations Huia. A New Years Day baby eh? We had a thing on TV on New Years Day about twins born that previous night - one was before midnight so a birthdate of 31 Dec 2011, the other after midnight so a birthdate of 1 Jan 2012. I wonder how rare that woud be??

Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day in paradise. Those overseas people who have come at this time of year on the low season fares are doing well. This time last year we were getting rain dumped on us in big quantities. Like 200 mils in less that 4 hours. Creeks and rivers were flooded etc. but cyclone Yasi hadn't arrived yet. No good going to the Great Barrier Reef diving or snorkelling if the weather isn't good. Doesn't look as spectacular. But it would be gorgeous in this weather.

cheers and HI to everyone,

im doing ok, the hot weather has been making me tired this week, so only going out toward evening to water my garden. The mozzies are especially bad this week, so using plenty of rid, to avoid bites. but I notice lots of midges too.

Tomorrow swim lessons start for G'son. he is in the third group this summer, as can do a "sort of" free style stroke. here in the local village pool they get 10 lessons for $65. so I thought that was a good deal and booked him in.

I really enjoyed having my 3 adult children with me in December. Son1 and his wife have now returned to to the frosty weather in Maine.

Son2 with be returning to cerberus to get ready for his graduation on 27th, Seaman Star. then he will go to category school for 6 months before being assigned to the fleet in August.

Best wishes to all and hope the new year fulfills our hopes

Morning from a much cooler Melbourne....:-)
( think its time they got rid of the smiley Santa...lol )

Huia. Congrats to you and all concerned on the birth of your great grandson. I still have a wait of about 9 to 10 years i reckon, to hold the title of Great grandad. I have 5 grandies and possibly one more still to come next year ( according to daughter number 2 )......and hopefully more from number 4 youngest daughter ( not married yet )

June. The pic is of my Dad in the RAAF ...world war 2, aged about 25..... He died when i was 12 years old, so i never really got to know him as a man, myself. He was my reason for starting the family tree. My four grandparents were also deceased before i was born in the late 40s...so i knew nothing about them either........But i do now ....;-)

Moonbi. I think its great for the young grandies to have swimming lessons. My lot are also having lessons, as we all go away together as a family on holidays, in Aussie and O/seas each year to many beaches, and various resorts that have pools.

Wishing all a great day/night.

Tony....:-)

Hello to you all
I hope you all had a great Australia Day, , it was a very wet one here in Bathurst.I watched the ceremony in Canberra.I cant remember what I did for the rest of the day .
Some parts of NSW are in flood ,we have had two bad Hailstorms wrecked my garden, my beans were producing but they got smashed along with the pumpkins and tomatoes ,we have had very little summer here ,I haven't needed to use the Air conditioner so am saving on the electricity.

My Grandaughter Emily started School this week and is loving it ,she cant wait to get to school each day which is a real positive.Abigail her sister also started Pre school, she is liking it ,she is used to routines as she was at child care for some time.

morning all, hope you all have a great day from cloudy Adelaide..

Zack

Zack Report 26 Feb 2012 01:48

Hello to Cow Girl in Adelaide,
I usually watch the weather reports and you have had some rather hot days, it was quite warm here yesterday and I suffered as I spent the whole day in the garden.I had perspiration dripping into my eyes , today rain and I have a three quarter length sleeves on ,talk about mad weather.
Hi June
Kathleen is my 2nd daughter she had a very bad seizure 2 two years ago it turned out to be epilepsy, her whole world came crashing down she was unable to work and in the end she was let go and since then had been trying to get the insurance company to pay out, about 6 weeks ago they finally came up with the payment , and it came just at the right time as it looked as if we would have to sell the property we live on,so the relief was was wonderful as we had all been feeling so down & stressed.

Kathleen likes the job, at this time it is only one day a week which is enough for the present as she has lost so much weight as the medication suppress ' her appetite., she now has scar tissue on her brain and loss of memory.

Hi Badger , It is good to hear from you, I am sorry to hear you have been unwell , how is you wife ? and also Hissy. We have had very little summer and a lot of rain and yes flooding in the South Western areas of Qld.some of the places it is there 2nd flood in 12 month's.
I had my summer Beans Tomatoes and Pumpkins, smashed by 2 Hail storms then a month later we had another Hail storm, I had to pull the Pumpkins out the beans and tomates I cut back and they are only now giving me fruit and beans.
I have started to put my winter crop in as last year I left it too late and they all went to seed.
I have finally had some success in finding some of my lost Great grandfathers family for years I have been looking for them and low and behold one of his brothers William came out to Aust.and landed in Corio Bay he was sponsored and after he had finished his time working for his passage, he bought some land at Wooroonooke near Charlton in Victoria. It is so pleasing to be in touch with one of his GtgtGrand son.

How is your family? Have you had any more trip's or has your health kept you at home.
I hope that your health improves.
Kindest regards to everyone
Marie ;-) <3
