Yes Ann thats exactly what I mean, we could have the formula of either descriptive words, people, places, emotions and suggest that we pick 3 for instance from the list..I think it would work, and also would make us use the dictionary to stretch our imaginations........just a thought. leave it to you and Rose

Rose????

Greenfingers Report 7 Mar 2012 08:46

Sorry did I get that wrong, I though you and Rambling Rose, were the instigators of this thread, if not I profusely apologise...........if I could get on my knees I would !!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha......Not possible since my operation ! Still haven't seen anything from Peter

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2012 08:50

No, you didn't get it wrong at all, that was me saying Rose??? to get her to agree or disagree. Not Rose???? she is not in charge Lol!!!

It might be a bit difficult to organise, who suggests the words? Those who write or both those who write and those who read? And how do we get everyone to respond? A time limit?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2012 15:43

Nudge for Rose to see.

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 7 Mar 2012 16:57

lol never been in charge of anything me ;-)

I think the main problem is that we all come and go rather a lot, and some who look at the board for ideas don't necessarily add ( either because they can't, not being paying members at the moment, or just time constraints).

I think it's probably better if individual members make one list of say 8 words ( or whatever number) and add to the thread, ie if Ann posts 8 words this week and Jan does next and so on...that way no one is waiting for someone to be around to add their coupe of words?

As always everyone is welcome to add ideas, even if they are not used immediately we can look back when hit by writers block lol.

OK I'll jump in just found another site I used to use.

Words
Shed, nervous, read. Post Office, excitement, turn. Garden centre

First lines of a story
The lights appeared out of the darkness.
The scent of lavender was overpowering.
This wasn't where he wanted to be.

Title
Silent Moments

Edit: choose one of them or do like Jan and put some together. She's clever that lady!

I'm up and running with new internet provider today so will try and catch up with everything ( raises eyes to heaven..highly unlikely concept me 'catching up'!). Thankyou for your last piece BC :-D

Nice suggestions Ann, I shall have a go!

Greenfingers

Greenfingers Report 7 Mar 2012 18:22

Sounds like a good idea, I'll think up something on the same lines as Ann and post this time next week...does that sound ok ?

I have just read through the last three pages and ended by admiring everyone's ideas. Ann will know that recently, very recently I started writing again and lo and behold I received praise..it made me feel so good.

I will keep writing but need to know, are we sent by email what the choices are, or, do we look on here?

Thank you Ann and others who have been very kind about my few pieces.

Bridget, who is waiting to find out what the next subject is OR can I just write something....??

Bridget still in Spain ! :-)

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 10 Mar 2012 19:49

Just posting while I can because I keep getting error messages :-( Please go ahead Jan, Bridget feel free to use the suggestions here or write whatever you like :-D

If I don't answer replies here, it's either because I can't get on the site or am trying to write lol

xx

Wend

Wend Report 10 Mar 2012 20:41

Met up with Pete last night Rose and I told him how I had enjoyed reading your recent piece. He agreed - 'I told her it was 'evocative' he said. 'Oh dear', I said, 'That's what I said - she probably thinks we're in league' LOL

Again, apologies to all I haven't replied to, but I will do in due course. Haven't received any offerings from BC lately, but rest assured, I have read all your earlier ones, BC, and will reply in due course.

I need a painting thread on here, so I can I can send you all my latest works for you to comment on and tear apart - grrr!

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 11 Mar 2012 11:53

lol Wend, 'evocative' is fine by me whether it's said once or twice :-D ( I hadn't noticed actually ).

A painting thread would be nice, I love looking, though it's a very long time since I did any, I'm sure there are quite a few painters on here.

Greenfingers

Greenfingers Report 11 Mar 2012 18:38

Wend please start a painting thread, I would join, as I am an artist too, watercolours mostly, but just started with arcylics. Were you serious ? Tho I cannot for the life of me know how I would post my pictures !!!!

MY SUGGESTIONS FOR A STORY/POEM ARE:-

Title...A new pursuit

First lines...use which ever one takes you fancy are.....
1) It had started as a good idea
2) Why had she/he agreed to come
3) So many choices, where to start
4) Would this ever end

Words to use all or whatever you want
are
Night classes, coffee bar, annoying person(either male or female), slamming door, wrong room and old classmate.

Hope that inspires some, I must admit I feel now a bit like Ann when she said she couldn't think of anything !!!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Mar 2012 22:28

Bridget in answer to your query, the ideas are usually only on here. But write anything if they don't appeal. \afraid there probably won't be anything from me this week as we are in the L District with our daughter.
