Emma you must be a "mature" woman too :-D

The Union Jack cake was good wasn't it Penny, I didn't like the sugar cage around the rum babas, thought that was a bit over the top, I like doing them but I call it angel hair, I often do it over ice cream, effective, but so, so messy :-D

The union jack cake was brilliant. Not sure as I could see the maid ,her nose or the blackbirds within the cake, but what a good idea to adapt for a small child's birthday? Even a plain cake, with marzipan pinched to look like a pie and fondant blackbirds would be effective.

Good program.

I've missed this series I think. I used to watch it on my little portable in the kitchen but since analogue went I've not watched much terrestrial television.

I used to watch Britain's Best Dish whilst I was doing tea but then they changed the format and I didn't like it.

Will see if I can find BBD on demand.

Thought I would Google to see who PH was and I recognise him. Definitely lust material. One of the results on the Google page was a link to his scone recipe. Totally different from the ingredients and method I've been using for ever; sugar, eggs and softened butter? No sugar, no eggs and butter as cold as poss with hands as cold as possible too. Will be having a go though.

Some of the cakes were so inventive were''t they Trish, the cake with the blackbirds coming out was so clever, I really thought the "pie dish" was a pie dish, until Paul cut into it, think that Lady could remain until the end. Felt very sorry for the lady who wrongly cooked her rum baba's in a Bain Marie, she was gutted, and although her cake at the end, wasn't cooked properly, the decoration was so pretty.

I'd never heard of Paul Hollywood before GBBO, his "thing" is bread and he's bread supplier for Harrods, I'll have to go in there and see if his bread has a photo of him on there, I may just have to buy a loaf f it is :-D

If you saw some of the cakes baked, and Paul, you'd have felt better :-)

I love cooking programmes, some people are so bloomin' talented, some of them don't think they are though, , I think I am, but I'm not ;-)

Missed it

Cant look a cake in its eye after my daughter looked after Herman the German friendship cake for 10 days.

I still feel sick & imagine I can still smell it. :-(

Are you ready for it:-D

I know it's about baking, and I really enjoy watching what they bake, but I have to say that Paul Hollywood is a dish in his own right, he has such lovely eyes, and the rest of him ain't bad either ;-)
