Dizzy...

My Christmas tree is my fireplace .....with the logs burning, I decorate the mantle that's an old railway sleeper ....and put a fantastic garland of holly & poinsettias with tiny red lights and Baubles .....

Haven't got time for my Christmas tree to go up !!, as I go away too soon before & after .

But I like your Idea of family Baubles...I might do one for my dear mum and tie it in the garland.

Marilyn ...that loves Christmas :-D

Thats a lovely idea Dizzi,
I might put a few extra baubles on this year.
Especially for my mum.

We also raise our glass to loved ones,
and remember the stories about them.
Especially Mum,with her Christmas Pudding with all the sixpences in.
Its nice to remember.

Thanks Dizzi for the good idea.
xx :-D :-D

I have a decoration brought to celebrate my first grandson's first Christmas ... he celebrated just 3 with us in body ... the decoration is still with us & will be carefully unwrapped this year as it has been for the last 16 years.

When we gather together for Christmas we raise a toast to those who are no longer sharing that table. It is not sombre, we laugh about past Christmas's & remember the happiness shared.

My tree always looks good to me, it is not carefully decorated to compliment the décor, but each item carries a memory. Some of my decorations are glass ones that decorated the tree in my husbands home when he was a boy, others I remember hanging from the one in my own childhood home. I also have decorations made for me by my children (now both adults) & Grandchildren, every year they threaten to throw them away, but know better than touch them :-D

Some of the glass ones are losing their colour so I may see if I can carefully paint them with names & dates.

It's a lovely idea. Our church does a similar thing every year in that we all write our late relative's names on a little card and it is tied on a memory tree.

My main tree is certainly not colour co-ordinated, nor does it have any sort of theme.

Like you Barb............my tree is full of old and not so old bits and bobs from years gone by. Full of all sorts of memories. You would laugh if you saw the angel that sits on the top of the tree.

But it is the most precious angel in all the world.

My tree is beautiful.............and i love it.

The rest of the family have beautiful colour co-ordinated trees

But I put all my old and not so old decorations on of all colours. Some have lovely memories some not
For me that's what my tree is all about and we love it.

My kids and g,kids have all helped me decorate the tree and they have got memories from it too
