:-D :-D MotownGal, that put a smile on my 'chops' :-D :-D

Shame about not having the usual fireworks display used to start at 5 o'clock, the fireworks are set off on a barge on the Thames between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridges.

Apparently because of the Jubilee and Olympics the think that people are all 'fireworked out' now ! :-(

I will wear my Titfer to keep me Barnet under control

I may even get a cup of Rosie while we are out. At a push, we may well get a pint of Pigs Ear.

The little bl**ders are still letting off fireworks.

No pretty ones, just the bangers!!!!!

We used to go to the organised displays on Highbury Fields or Primrose Hill, but they have been stopped due to Elf and Safety!

:-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Tell me about it ...I love fireworks but the little bl**ders throw the bangers into the blocks across the rail tracks so they go off with an almighty bang!!!

I'd hate to live in those blocks it must be hell and it won't stop until the new year
surprising really cos I thought all the estates had night security now :-S

Did you see in the Standard this evening - the London eye encircled with red lights and a laser clock showing 11 o'clock

It was a test run for Sunday evening....might take a wander up there if its not too chilly

Not a Londoner, but love going there -even if its just a day trip on the train. I still get exited as the train approaches Kings Cross. It's just the best city in the world!

GeordieinNorfolk I come from the Kings Cross area, and when I pull into St Pancras, I get out of my seat for the last few minutes of travel, so i can look at the surrounding area. St Pancras is a wonderful building, even more so since it's been modernised, which they did fantastically :-D

I assume a few of you on here know of Chapel Market? I was always "up Chap" with my friends, where you'd buy single stockings that you had to match the other one to, sometimes you even got a pair :-D American tan was the one to get :-)

Treehunter

Treehunter Report 12 Nov 2012 17:22

I go to meet my pal Rita every so often for a natter.

We usually go to the Pie and Mash shop in Chapel Street. But no, it is all fruit and veg stalls now. Not the heady mix it used to be.

Its gone quite upmarket around there now. The locals have moved out, and the professionals have moved in....................

Shame

Treehunter Report 12 Nov 2012 20:47

Yes not the same i go up there to the LMA and also pop to house where i was born Noel road/

I think most markets have gone down hill. I use to go to East street maket off Old Kent Road as my aunt use to live there. Havent been for years now she died in 1977.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 7 Dec 2012 09:03

Cut through Chapel Street the other afternoon just as it was getting dark.

All the stalls had their lights on and looking down the street there was a lovely warm orangey glow.

Loverly, made yer proud to be an Izzy.
