Now he is approaching his ninety-third birthday, just as when he was approaching his ninety-second,theold man has been to the wheelchair clinic to see about having his wheelchair speeded up.

This time he has been successful and has come home beaming.

It needed doing this year because he recently had to have the control unit renewed which slowed his wheelchair down some.

Last year it was not possible because his wheelchair was travelling at the highest speed possible before it became a motor vehicle.

Oh wow, I had cataract surgery at quite a young age (40 and 42) the difference in vision was amazing. The only bad thing was how bad all the paintwork looked. :-(

Once OH had welded the paintbrush all looked well again, the only other downfall were that my wrinkles looked soooo much less prior to the surgery :-D :-D :-D

Kay, I really don't mind him being miles away as long as the pension stays here.

Should the paintwork not be to his liking I can always find him a paint brush.

I think that is very much down to the individual as to how competent they are but my dad did have to pass a competence test to be issued with his wheelchair.

Unfortunately, anybody can buy a buggy and set about mowing down the general populace.

My Dad who was 83 yesterday still drives his car. He does not do long journeys very much but he is very active and alert.

Just to update.

The appointment was changed so he had to go to the eye clinic for nine o'clock this morning.

That took a bit of organizing I can tell you, carers to get him up,hospital transport, his mate to be collected to go to the hospital with him.(His mate actually lives next to the hos[ital but must be here to travel with him,he doesn't want me there.)

Anyway,he saw the eye specialist and they are able to operate on both of his cataracts.

I am very, very pleased but must accept that I will not know where he is now!

I can well imagine the effort involved in getting him to hospital for 9 o'clock, but great news that the surgeons are able to operate and help his vision.

Just think how much easier it will be when he's out on his various forays. You might end up with a whole new glut of hedgerow produce..... and stuff to make the garden grow.!
