you are so right Sue - I have a fair number of gay men friends and they wouldn't hurt a flea - they are kind, caring and compassionate

JustJohn Report 23 Oct 2012 20:54

This thread isn't about YOU Sue, you're not that important. ;-) For the record, they told me they were gay, their behaviour and conversation seemed to tell me they were importuning young boys. But I did not witness anything of a sexual nature.

supercrutch Report 23 Oct 2012 20:47

I have steam coming out of my ears because your post suggests all gay men are paedophiles ..WHICH THEY ARE NOT!!!

Now if you had referred to your friends as 'sicko', 'pervy', 'twisted' instead of just 'gay' I wouldn't have a problem.

How unfortunate that the families of these disgusting individuals have to suffer too.

FFS this thread isn't about YOU John, you're not that important.

So sorry about your son's experience Ann, lets hope that the vile "man" is soon behind bars. Such a shame that some people who work with children, are only in that job because of there unhealthy interest in them. My eyes were opened to this a few years back, when working, I've now so wary of people who work with children, awful thing to say, as I worked in that field :-(

not really John - get over yourself

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 23 Oct 2012 20:30

It seems as if anger has been turned away from Jimmy Savile on this thread and is now directed at me.

I am quite happy to answer questions you raise about my "friends" in India, but not sure I see the point of your anger or the "steam coming out of ears". I thought my experience, particularly my close friendship with Savile's assistant till after the funeral, would have relevance.

But clearly one or two want to tell me what a horrible person I am. Che sera, sera. ;-)

I echo Lynda's comment, how brave you are Hazel to speak out - I hope lessons are learnt but sadly they rarely are - these paedophiles are a cunning lot and we should have a far more rigorous screening of anyone who has charge of youngsters

That's very brave of you to speak out Hazel, and very well said :-)

savile said in an interview that his reputation would be destroyed once he had died, how right he was, he fooled everyone in the united kingdom.he knew those he had abused and tormented would finally be able to speak out with out his clever lawyers serving injunctions to shut them up.
i was a inmate at duncroft a few years before him, and witnessed abuse of many kinds. chemical cosh's, solitary confinement, drunken staff/doctors/psychiatrists,so these "revelations" are not surprising. also i would like to know why so many messages on friends reunited about duncroft have been deleted? please lets learn from the past and the present to provide a safer happier future for vulnerable children and adults.NOW, not a witchhunt, but protect our vulnerable human beings.it's always said after an expose, lessons must be learnt, lets LEARN and act

Julia Report 23 Oct 2012 18:38

Kay, please look at the first sentence of the posting at 16.04 today. He deffinitely said a "possible connection between this Saville case and India".
It is there in black and white.

Sorry have to go now for evening meal.

back earlier in the thread,,,,,,,Johns friend who at some point worked for JS but now lives in India,,,,,,,,John has as it read misgivings as to continue his friendship with this person due to his JS connection.....this incident is present time.....

??????

I dont know if the now India thing is related to that or another set of friends who John made while John was in India??????? a past time.?

Julia

Julia Report 23 Oct 2012 18:25

Supercrutch, I feel much the same as yourself for his explanation as to why he mentioned India in the first place, his answer now being that there is a possible connection between JS and India.
I don't know what papers he reads or news bullitins he listens to, but obviously not the same ones as I do. I have never heard of this connection, anywhere.
Make 'em up as you go along theory, methinks.

I am still peed off that John used the word 'gay' when referring to his friends instead of the proper label of 'pervert'.

Still anything for effect eh?

*steam still coming out of ears*

Janet,
If the 'hand on the leg' incident seems trivial to you I am very alarmed. The 'accuser' was a patient in Broadmoor at the time. She was not in his dressing room she was watching TV with two other girls with Savile sitting on the floor next to her chair.
This man was allowed in to the hospital in a position of trust and obviously abused that trust and any young person he could get his filthy hands on.

aivlyS

aivlyS Report 23 Oct 2012 17:44

I cannot believe I am reading this ...no different to the workplace and the dressing room was their workplace ... that does NOT make it ok ..I do nonot know where the hell you worked Janet but it sure as hell would not of been classed as OK in my place of work

~Lynda~

~Lynda~ Report 23 Oct 2012 17:37

But I wouldn't call, putting a hand on a knee trivial though Janet, whether or not it was a way of the world, that doesn't make it trivial to the person who's knee it is.
I grew up in the 50's/60's and realise that things were very different to how they are now, but had someone put an unwanted hand on my knee back then, I certainly wouldn't of thought it o.k, or trivial.

As for the old saying, "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" I've never been inappropriate with anybody, so I can be happy saying, any unwanted sexual advances are wrong.

Janet

Janet Report 23 Oct 2012 17:11

Where do you draw the line.?

If having watched a show it must be obvious the type of character the 'star' of the show is. Its one thing to be accused of having girls in the dressing room and another thing to be associated with rape cases. Whilst the comment is not politically correct it sounds about right for the time it was said.

Another accuser of JS said that his hand lingered a little too long on her leg and she felt he was a creep. 'Abuse' at this level should not come into the equation. No it isn't pleasant but that was a long time ago and their behaviour was nothing different to what went on in the workplace. Their dressing room was their workplace. Focus should just be given to the serious accusations and forget the trivial stuff as it was the way of the world. Not right but for some reason accepted. Hopefully the good that should come out of all this, is that all people should just be reminded of their indiscretions and think about the consequences.
Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.-jl
