Rambling Report 25 Oct 2012 18:50

My take on sex at 83 , or any age really, is that in the abstract it doesn't always seem that appealing... but if you are with someone you want to' canoodle' with ( and they with you obviously) it makes a difference lol.

At this time in my life I'm more interested in chocolate and a good book ;-)

I don't have to get over myself Neubie.
You, and others posting ,do not know other peoples circumstances, so it does not give you the right to ridicule them, or in this case, me.

Ohh come on Julia.. learn to laugh a bit. it's not a personal attack.
Get over yourself

So, I'm entitled to my opinion,Neubie, and I have expressed it. I did not expect you of all people to agree with me, so your posting is of no suprise. If someone else had posted it, it would not have gained your interest.
I did not think this thread was about ridiculing me for an opinion I have, just about JS.

That's my opinion Sheila, and I'm not asking anybody to agree with it. The thought just revolts me. Quote

You might change your mind when you are 83 Julia ;-)

you might be right there....

Det.
I was just in the surgery for Dr's appointment and there was a young mum there with a 1 month old baby, crossed my mind, what wonders or otherwise would it see in its lifetime........

You're right, Bob. There are other things going on in the world.

'To vaccinate or not to vaccinate' or 'British countryside under threat' both seem good subjects for new threads.

if you wanted to start something along those lines, there are probably a number of members who like to post relevant comments ;-)

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 25 Oct 2012 17:38

there are more important things in present day LIFE than whittling on about a dirty old man, while there is nothing you or I can do to change things.......

Just my opinion, mind ,

Bob

with respect, just tell the mothers of those unfortunate babies, that.

AnnCardiff Report 25 Oct 2012 15:50

I do wish the media would stop printing pictures of JS - we all know what he looks like - nauseating - he's everywhere you look

this thread is about JS though Bob - not whooping cough and ash trees

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 25 Oct 2012 15:37

I see that there are now about 300 JS related cases.........

I also see that there are many cases of Whooping cough , and it is on the rise
there have been 10 deaths of very young babies

and I also see that there are calls for social networkers to use slightly untrue details........

and that there is a threat to our UK Ash trees........

Nor me, Sheila. That man in India in papers last week was 98, and he looked as if he was still capable in all departments.

Abraham was that sort of age. Abraham is our "father" - father of all major faiths in the world today. Probably an ancestor too.

We are all different - cup of tea preferred by me, but everyone to his or her own ;-) ;-)

ps I would point out that what Savile was doing was disgusting and evil right through his long life. :-(

SheilaSomerset Report 25 Oct 2012 13:30

Sorry, but I don't understand why a man of 84 having 'any kind of sex' is 'disgusting'???

And it's 'sex', not 's*x'.

Sue In Yorkshire. Report 25 Oct 2012 13:27

There has been loads of rumours about JS dating back to the early 50's in Leeds.

My sisters warned me not go to near him when we went to the Mecca dance hall in the late 50's early 60's.

and yes someone did report him to the police and he paid the family off.

JustJohn Report 25 Oct 2012 12:52

The Star was full of it yesterday - Mirror today. Paedophile Ring in No 10. It appears to have been a convicted paedophile working as an aide in No 10 about 25 years ago when Mrs T and Savile were good friends. This man was said to be part of a powerful ring.

Can this scandal go any higher?

Janet

Janet Report 25 Oct 2012 12:01

Lynda

"So Janet, I assume you're saying that you do believe the accusations against JS now, as you did 40 years ago?-correct.

Possibly people who don't live in the vicinity of Leeds may never have heard any stories, but as a caller on Radio Leeds, about three weeks ago, described JS as "leet gi'en" ( as a posser 'eead). The saying doesn't translate from Yorkshire very well but it is a very old saying. If a man was described thus you stayed away from him at all costs. Obviously if Yorkshire folk had a saying for such men then there is nothing new under the sun.The given explanation is simply 'of loose morals' but when the saying is/was used it always had a more subtle/sinister meaning.

Listening to the BBC when discussing about JS and why he didn't work at St James' in Leeds was that the majority of porters, cleaners and catering staff, lived in the Harehills district and knew of him first hand, as it were.Collectively they objected to his coming to St James. The reason the program said he went to the LGI was that the staff there were recruited from a wider field so no-one knew of his background. That information was via BBC, not my slant on the situation. Anyone in the local area could have listened .

Possibly people who live/lived in the Stoke Mandeville area will have their own stories or London or Scarborough or anywhere he has been. Stories of JS have circulated for years but it is only now that they are all coming together. -jl

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 25 Oct 2012 11:53

don't you all wonder why, when nurses at Stoke Mandeville, years ago, were telling children to pretend they were asleep when JS visited the hospital, that nothing was done then?

these nurses had a duty of care towards these children and they should have made sure the authorities were aware of what was going on - perhaps they did and the failure lies with the hospital management
