Bob If I was a guppy or a goldfish, not sure I would swim round happily if my gravel had Scarlett's memories contained it in. :-D

But you make a very important point about sterilisation. Good debate to be had about whether sterlisation of surfaces and floors etc is a good thing, or whether better to reduce bacteria to a "safe level".

Ive only lightly washed the sponges in the filter bob
i only do a full strip down once every 5 years
but i was also wallpapering behind the tank so it had to be moved
and there's only 3 goldfish in the tank
though they are about 15 years old and quite big :-D

i have the fish in the dogs bath in the lounge
so no rush to put the back and i used the water out the tank to quater fll th bath
so will top the tank up with some of thast water to
so it should be ok

it isnt always a good idea to completely sterilise a tank, you need the bacteria to process the contents of the water,or you might get "new tank syndrome"
Saving some of the gravel before boiling the rest might help the tank to re-estabilish itself.

as is using a used filter element for a few days

Scarlett's a little star to be honest considering
she was badly neglected before i got her
she is a right character
its the first time in 8 months she hasnt used the right tray
so cant complain and it does look like litter

she must of thought Christmas had come heated litter

the lady up the road said she will drop me some gravel she has left over so no harm done :-D :-D

Joy I am using Tesco Value Litter at £1.58 per 10 litre. Is your fish tank gravel any cheaper? Might change brand :-D

Scarlett sounds most innovative - bless :-) ;-)

i only boiled it because i am decorating
and needed to move the tank to wall paper behind it
so though spring clean it and paint the cupboards

the fish are in the dogs bath in my lounge for a bit longer now lol :-D :-D

i cant believe she thought it was the new litter tray

she must of thought this trays a bit small but its plenty deep ;-) ;-)
