There used to be a site connected to GR called Connections, I think. That had chat forums etc.

It was advertised on here and I registered to have a look. I only visited twice and both times was propositioned by pm by creepy men with no idea of my age or anything else about me. I imagine there are a lot of such forums around.

But if older men are visiting chat rooms designed for teenagers then they are very suspicious, I'd have said.

Bob is "hi anyone wanna chat" a honey trap these days?...But yes I used a 'fake name and age' to see if a standard teen chat site designed for 13-18 year olds was 'safe' from predators...it seems not. There are loads of sites, this one was teenchat or teensite not sure which now.

I appreciate that "Anyone wanna chat," is an ambiguous opening gambit,

but surely if some one is offered "You show me yours and I'll show you mine",(or worse) online, you are not actually having your arms twisted until you do so.....

I lost track of chat rooms when MSN shut all theirs down, and my hotmail is definately in the freezer.........and being a bit of a luddite,my phone is just that...a phone..........

Not if you're an adult, Bob, but some children are naive and easily coerced. It's not a meeting of equals. Surely you can see that?

These are children.

No Bob , not having your arm twisted, and as a response it's one that would instantly flag up a warning to a 13 year old and they could decline and leave the chat and /or site.

I gave that as an example of the most blatant example of an older person using a site to get at youngsters specifically ( male or female )...the more subtle ones would obviously establish a 'relationship' before that point which might lull the child into a false sense of 'friendship','being grown up' or just scared that somehow parents will 'find out' if they don't play along.

Statistically females are likely to use chat rooms 13-18 ,,,,and statistically men use these to garner the **gymslip targets**......women do commit these acts, but in lower numbers and if of young adult school age will use a target that he/she in personal contact with, such a pupil/charge.

Out of all the charges that have been brought to court world wide the highest % has been men.
