Watching the Rugby (England v France), the England players have a poppy printed on the right sleeve of their shirts.


Am also eating the most delicious cherry cake baked by my grand daughter. :-D

All the 4 home Nations that played Rugby on the weekend wore the poppy on their shirts :-)

Rather different from Fifa banning the England team from displaying one ........
claiming it would 'open the door to similar initiatives' across the world.
Prime Minister David Cameron stepped into the row, condemning the ban as 'outrageous' and 'absurd', and calling for FIFA to reverse the 'absurd' decision.

RFL communications manager John Ledger said: 'The England rugby league team have always marked Remembrance Sunday by wearing poppies on their jerseys in international fixtures played over this important weekend and we will be joined by Wales, Australia and New Zealand on Saturday and Sunday.

'It's entirely the right thing to do and all the players involved in this weekend's Gillette Four Nations fixtures will wear their poppies with pride.'

Certainly don't follow the football press - and reading what you've written about Fifa, I'm not missing much!! What a lot of balderdash!

Unlike many football matches, it was fair, fun and no prima donnas moaning because their hair gel was dislodged :-P

Cherry cake was delicious. I thought grand daughter (she's only 10) left half a cake, but it's all gone..........

......maybe she only left a couple of slices......

I'm not a watcher of Soccer tho I do watch rugby, union rather than league.Hubby has all of them on ,sometime or either !

I certainly don't follow football press but it's surprising what you find on the online press, I was looking about remembrance day , I didn't know of the Fifa ban either.

Perhaps the cake slices were large ones ;-) ;-)
