Budgie Rustler Report 13 Nov 2012 23:10

I had that same problem on my old XP set up Ronald .
I ended up with a screen full of pop up boxes . the mouse seemed to have a mind of its own , sometimes I could not scroll up or across.
I gave up in the end and gave the set up to a relative, and bought a new set up with Vista on.

He thanked me later and said it worked perfect after he connected a new mouse to it.

Hiya Wend, no the lappy is still here.
I have been working on a head of hair for a doll I am making for one of my Gt. grandaughters for Christmas.
Just making the "fringe".
The entire hair-do is in ringlets, including the fringe.
I have been reading the board though.

Thanks for thinking of me.

PS Made a batch of Mincemeat Bread and Butter Puddings this morning for the freezer.

To check when and what updates you have installed,

click on start then in the search box type, windows updates

select view installed updates, that next page should allow you to uninstall any of the updates, I would in your case google the latest updates to find out what they are and what they do, then decide if the update could be causing the problem before deleting it,

Safe mode

Roy

Edit, If you want to go online with safe mode you need to select "Safe mode with Networking" as safe mode is just that (SAFE) and the internet is the least safe of all

I've never dared ask before...................what exactly is 'safe mode'?

Julia Report 13 Nov 2012 13:44

Hello Porkie Pie. So grateful you have come on board.
To be honest, not alot of what Rollo said, made alot of sense.
I only use the computer for adding on this page, or sending e-mails. Occassionally I will go onto a site such as Ravelry or a Facebook Crochet site
Do not go on the Tree site on here. Do not know anything about a scan or a word document. Sorry. I did say I was abit of a numb nut, about computers.

Many TRhanks

Julia, Did you try running in safe mode as suggested by Rollo? If you did, Did it resolve the problem? If it did then have you done a scan? Is your cursor at "stand-still" when you are not typing, Malware or a virus could present similar to how you described,

Is the problem there when your using a word document on your PC or when on the web or both

Another thing Have you changed or added anything that may have changed your settings including updates? if your not sure then you can check what updates you have and when they were installed

I did see something similar in a magazine yesterday (not the same problem though). It mentioned somebody whose laptop went off intermittantly. Removing her magnetic bangle stopped the problem, apparently anything magnetic can affect the pc.

Julia a lot of those looking in will not be members, they can read the threads but are unable to post even if they know the solution.

Julia.
Don´t think your charger is at fault because my lappy is permanently plugged into the mains & I don´t have broadband. I use a dial up connection.
I think it´s a gremlin that gets into the machine, but as I haven´t a clue how computers work, have no idea how to cure it.
So I just swear, put it right & carry on........Smiling (not).

Julia

Julia Report 13 Nov 2012 08:21

Morning Everhybody,
I thought that I had solved this after the suggestions yesterday tea-time. But as I have started to type this morning, the "typing breaking up, and re inserting itself amongst things I have already typed,", seems to still be there.
Cynthia, my charger is where it has always been, and is nowhere near the actual lappy.
My remarks about people looking at the thread, but not giving any imput, were made out of frustration, though I am not using that as an excuse. I would have thought that, out of the 77 views to date, there would have been someone that had at sometime experienced the same, and could have said what they did to resolve the problem.
I will just have to see how it runs today.
With abit of luck, that problem may have run it's course.

Again, may thanks for the help.

Julia, I have that trouble occasionally and was told that it can happen when your charger is too close to your lappy.

Try moving your charger away slightly - works for me.

Hope this helps.

I think Phyll is right. People may look at your thread to see if they can help but, if they can't, then they don't post anything.
