I have an Acer Extensa, Windows 7 & a mouse & I get the problem too, but only intermittently,often when I´m typing a block of text rather than just a couple of sentences. |

Son has laptop and young daughter (9) uses it. He's made things easy by using a mouse so no probs. Must be a point somewhere on lappy where mouse can be powered |

I think the circle you are describing is the unavailable cursor, a bit like a no entry sign. Perhaps you have a stuck key or another program running in the background,so the computer is trying to do two things at once. |
