How brave you are!

I lost my hair due to chemo, 11 years ago, and hid under a wig the whole time. It was so liberating, though - no shampooing, or styling, and no bad hair days!

Thank you everybody. I worked in one Hospice shop until it was closed and another opened. I now work in the new one and had my hair off in the hopes of getting publicity for the new shop, plus the money of course. I also think I am a 'bit' of a show-off in my old age! I also felt that it would show women that if they lose their hair it is not really a big deal to go about bare-headed. Men do it, so why not women? Several years ago I saw a bald headed woman walking about town and she looked totally unconcerned, and I thought 'she is beautiful' so that thought helped me. It is the character that matters, not beautiful hair. I hope I have the nice character - I am working on it.

I intend to keep it short for a month or two, maybe longer if the weather gets hot, which it usually does in Feb/March. I will need to keep out of the sun though, but then I have never been a sun-bunny. My 80 yr old sister is going to do the same on the 28th of this month.

Huia ~~

What you are doing is extremely admirable of you...and your sister doing the same ..

Wow , you are both made of sterner stuff than I.

My skull feels flat at the back of my head, it would look weird shaven.......
How vain of me. (shame on me ) :-|

The brilliant thing is that you are raising money for a worthy charity ,selflessly and I hope you and you sister raise loads. :-D :-D <3

Yes, Liz, I am hoping to get up to my sister's haircut so we can both be photographed together.

As for being cool, my ears are feeling it so I have worn my woolly hat around the house today. I might need to wear two of them when I go out tomorrow if this cool weather persists. :-)

Of course, I do have the advantage of having 'neat' ears as one woman put it. That is to say, they are not red sails in the sunset like those of a certain royal. I might not have been so keen if mine had been like that. :-0

Lol, yes your ears are neat and I do love your description of a certain Royal with large ears. Hope the weather will warm up so your ears don't get frostbite, bless you.

Take care

Dont worry, Liz. I am taking care of my ears, wearing a woolly hat to bed at night, and when I went out this morning there was a cold wind blowing so I wore 2 woolly hats. I didnt need them in the shop, or afterwards.

If I could find them I would send you some earmuffs, Huia. I had some in bright colours when my son was younger and I would wear them to take him to school when it was chilly. My hair was longer and thicker then but now I prefer hats, have quite a selection now.

I went out today, and sometimes I put a sunhat on, but only if I was in the sun. As soon as I was under a shady verandah or in a shop I took my hat off as it was much too hot.
