Hi Emma.

I quite agree. Can't imagine some of the players we have in football today going into a scrum. Some maybe but not those who go down as if they've been shot when an opposition player breathed near them.

I don't see Gareth Edwards, just one of many wonderful players in the 70s acting as they say 'like a big girl's blouse'.

Remember Rory and Tony Underwood's mom? She'd soon sort out any wimpish behaviour if we let her run football :-D

I like the rugby too because the ref is mike'd. And sure it can get unpleasant out there but I like the attitudes of all involved much better.

For many years I have believed that attitudes in football are wrong. Not all footballers should be tarred with the same brush and I've got personal experience to know this.

Non-league and lower league players work a 'real job' and play football too and find a balance to do both.

I'm afraid that if I was put in charge of footballers towards the top of the game, I would send them to work in a factory or foundary or a mine or to work on the roads or a building site for a couple of weeks so that they might appreciate just how lucky they are to make their very good living kicking a big bag of wind about.

LOL, Jill some of them would never recover if she was in charge.

I think hearing what football ref is saying would help a lot, no back-
chatting a rugby ref, players adhere to what he is saying and get on
with the game. :-)

It would but not until a footballer understands that he is not the most important person in the world, that he is part of a team and that what the ref says goes.

So long as money talks to the people who run the game, they aren't going to get tough.

They should bring in a new regime from the start of a season based upon rugby rules behaviour on the pitch.

I won't worry about ducking from those flying pigs any time soon though :-)

Yep you and me both.

That ref who was accused,it would not have gotten off the ground
if he could have been heard by the rest of us. It's a shame that
the so called 'beautiful game' is spoiled by these primadonna's.

Perhaps, today, the following will apply :

Men of Harlech, march to glory,
Victory is hov'ring o'er ye,
Bright-eyed freedom stands before ye,
Hear ye not her call?
At your sloth she seems to wonder;
Rend the sluggish bonds asunder,
Let the war-cry's deaf'ning thunder
Every foe appall.
Echoes loudly waking,
Hill and valley shaking;
'Till the sound spreads wide around,
The Saxon's courage breaking;
Your foes on every side assailing,
Forward press with heart unfailing,
'Till invaders learn with quailing,
Cambria ne'er can yield!

I can but hope.....and dream.....

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 I LOVE RUGBY, I CANT STAND FOOTBALL. I could sing you a Rugby song, but I don't want to lower the tone :-D

When was a kid the male parent had a reel to reel tape recorder he bought second hand from a colleague. A mass of tapes came with it. The title which fascinated me was 'Rugby Songs'. I knew if I was caught, the consequences would be serious so I held out for a few years. One day I couldn't resist any longer and played it. How disappointing. All the bad words had been 'beeped' out :-D

I lived in London for a time in my 20's. There is a thriving Welsh community there and, on a Sunday night we used to go down to the Prince of Wales in (I think) Leicester Square and sing hymns and arias interspersed with "hairs on her ****" and similar.

The combination of "Tydi a Roddaist" (Thou who gavest) with Sospan Fach (Little saucepan) followed by the Engineers song followed by Men of Harlech was a bit surreal. But a fabulous evening completed by the Welsh national anthem :-D :-D

And plenty of draft Brains and Wrexham Lager :-D

Happy days John. I am from a strong Rugby background, my son is now the Presedent of the Rugby Club which was founded by his Grandfather. Lots of happy memories and so many funny stories. I always feel safe and much loved when I am with the "lads" old and young.

I thought England did Tonga.

Football is p*s*ing me off, Merlin. Haven;t been foloowing Blades but will now. But have taken an interest in Crystal Palace, and they are winning every da*ned thing. My team Wolves were winning 1-0 today at Milineux and then lost 2-1 (didn't even seem that good an opposing team, something like Oakengates Dynamo) :-( :-(

Manager is stale already ;-)
