I do a mixture of both, on line for Son and family as they have wish lists at Amazon and it is easier. Cash for older grandsons with some small presents bought in the shops, lots of small presents (like a stocking in a fancy carrier bag) for daughter and son in law because they can afford what they want, and a mixture of on line and shops for OH. Shops for the few friend's presents.

I like Amazon for music and books, but usually end up buying presents in the shops. Has to be spontaneous, though, can never find what I want if I go with a purpose.
I'm another one who agonises over what to get, so vouchers are playing a major roll this year.

Definitely prefer internet shopping. I have all of mine done wrapped and ready to go. I hate being pushed and crushed in the overheated shops and in the past I have made many a “panic purchase” I love buying presents and deciding what to get for people. Online I have been able to browse many of my usual stores M&S Debenhams, John Lewis, and of course Amazon. I went into the city last week to buy my Christmas cards it was manic and I forgot some of my “special cards”

Food shopping is a task in waiting ;-)

Morning All
I'm like Kay, I like to see what I am getting, but I do have it organised.

I made all my presents this year, with the exception of two.
I wanted an M & S gift voucher for older sister, so daughter did that on-line for me, and a bottle of Scotch for my Dad.

Yesteday I went to have my 6/8 week normal haircut, which will see me through Christmas. So, I arranged for the OH to meet me later at local T**co, where I got what few remaining items of food I needed, having already got my meats in.
In between the hair and T**co, I managed to nip into my favourite charity shop,Headway,,and drop off a bag of used paperbacks, and selected another bag full for my Christmas reading, and, a glass trifle bowl for my daughter, all for £4.00.
So, to T**co, and watching the dates carefully, I got my sprouts and Chantaney carrotts, which I will prepare today and put in freezer. I bought some cheeses also, with a long date on them, and loads of different types of savoury biscuits, aswell as anything I need in the baking department.
Just short of a few bottles, but as the OH is in T**co everyday, it is like our corner shop, any odds and ends, he will pick up.
So, for me, job done.

Yesterday I shopped online and got loads of gifts, 20% off and free postage at MandS

Today I shopped in town and came home with a headache.

Gee Report 4 Dec 2012 21:25

Hmmm...we do both, but we dont even think about gifts until two weeks, prior to Christmas :-0

My son in law's business here in Oz would go belly up if everyone shopped online :-( I can see the convenience of online shopping but it's killing a lot of small shops.

mostly get my pressies on line from QVC and then pick up things in shops if I happen to spot something I know someone would like

We have a Kath Kidstone shop just opened in Cardiff but to be honest I find the stuff terribly overpriced

done all mine now anyway - just have to wrap it - posting the cards tomorrow

Kay, when I went down to my friend's recently overnight , she said would I like a boiled egg for breakfast but I'd have to hold it as she'd broken her last egg cup lol. So i thought I'd try and get her one, or a pair...she likes 'pretty' things so I thought something 'Cath Kidston' ish.

Rambling Report 4 Dec 2012 19:55

I'm still looking for an egg cup lol, one shop had plain white, bit too boring, and none of the obvious shops had any at all...adding insult to injury the one place that had fancy shabby chic egg cosies didn't have the eggcups to go with them lol. ebay has lots but either very expensive or not what I'm after.

I might try next week's auction instead :-D

I've had a 'reccie' and the only things I will get from the shops I have either already bought or know exactly what I'm going for so can do it quickly.

I am getting some things from Amazon also, BC, just makes it so easy :-D
