I loved the unusual timing of Take 5, so typical of Dave Brubeck.
He would have been 92 tomorrow.
RIP

I was at a wedding where the music chosen was "Whiter Shade of Pale"
unfortunately the organist had a very bad day..............

Take 5 is difficult and unusual to play as it is in 5/4 time...5 beats to the bar and drummers in particular can find it hard as its not an even number to get the accents on.
I admired Dave Brubeck and particularly liked Paul Desmond on sax.
RIP Dave.

Take 5 must be one of the "classic pops" which is instantly recognised by a good proportion of people.
What would others be (probably excluding The Beatles whose output is universally recognised).

LOL Take five.............I remember one of the lunchtime bands on the radio playing it!!
and in the middle eight the next player to takeover, apparently couldnt find the right beat to come in on, burst of giggles n laughter......the pianist, drummer, and bass player were vamping the rhythm .waiting.............~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
