Thanks Huia, and for letting Persie know I was thinking about her. Hope her plumber was ok despite his destination.

Take care

Liz, I told Norma on FB that you had been asking after her and had reassured her that you were not too close, unless you had driven to the area at the time. She says her plumber had been at her place and he was driving to Hobsonville afterwards, in very heavy rain.

There have been only 3 deaths, but many houses made uninhabitable.

Thank you Huia :-)

Susan thanks for OP....my cousins live there so think I should definitely send an email.
One of their family lost their home during the recent earthquake.

So very sad to hear of people being killed by the tornado.

Thanks Huia for keeping an eye on this thread.

I note the PM has today commented that he has never seen such destruction as at the site where the three men were sadly killed.

Mau, I have a very dear friend who lives at Northcote Point. So close to the inner city :-).

Glad everyone NZ rellies are safe.

Huia Report 6 Dec 2012 20:02

Scozz, perhaps I know your Papakura cousin as I do my shopping there. If she sees somebody with very short hair, tell her to say hi. Or is it a him?

Kerikeri (note the spelling) is way up north.

Very sad and condolences to those who have lost friends and family. Glad your family are safe Scozz, and that you are too.

I don't like tunnels John after the collapse in Dorset of the Beaminster one, which they are apparently just starting to repair. Two lives lost in that one. No country seems safe after all the weird weather we are all getting.

Sorry Huia I missed your post ~ one cousin is in Papakura in Auckland, another in Kerri Kerri, not sure about the others.

Hello Susan....pleased to see that you and family are ok.

Scozz...hope you hear from your family soon.

Very sad news, so many parts of the world are being affected by severe weather conditions.
RIP to those who have died.

I heard from my cousins.

Everyone OK. One of them had to rush out to the carpark at work & move her car, half an hour later it would have been flooded!

Very sad that people died, and so distressing for those who lost homes <3

I'm glad you're ok Susan and Huia but very sad for the people who have lost their lives. I hope our Persie is ok :-(

I have quite a lot of family (3 cousins and their repective children and grandchildren) in Hawkes Bay area.

So I should imagine a lot of us are worried about family out there.

So many disasters over last few years. The tunnel collapse in Japan may not have affected us as much as NZ, but it is a huge worry. How many tunnels do we drive through or journey through every day?

I was in Hunua and we had a real downpour in the afternoon (I was at a party in the hall), but I didnt hear any thunder and didnt know about the tornadoes until I got home.

Scozz, which part of Auckland? It was in the Henderson/Hobsonville area.
