After the topless photos it's obvious the press worldwide are up to their old tricks again with Kate like they were with Diana.

All the more reason to protect their privacy at a respected hospital knowing that there are unscrupulous journos about.surely?...so why didn't they????

...add to that Harry and his nude pics..........when will they learn ffs !!!!!...these people surely aren't that daft?

It's ok SueMaid.

I think most people are sensitive over this death and the prank call.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 7 Dec 2012 23:17

My apologies Sue - I've just been on another forum where people are implying that all Aussies like to play pranks on people and they don't care who gets hurt. Made me a bit sensitive.

R.I.P. Jacintha Saldanha,

Her family released this statement:

We as a family are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Jacintha. We would ask that the media respect our privacy at this difficult time. We would request that you direct your questions and queries through the police press office.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 7 Dec 2012 23:08

Why put up links to those forums? To prove that most people in Australia are idiots with no feelings?

supercrutch Report 7 Dec 2012 23:03

Roy, your statement is still contrary to that given by both the hospital and spokesperson for the royal family.

Those two sites just prove there are people without any brain cells who can type!

Talk about a pile of cr*p, I wonder if they have friends? They certainly cannot tell fact from rumour.

Muffyxx. Having experience in management myself i doubt she had any support from them in this case, They would have been to busy putting umbrellas up

What some people have wrote on these two sites is disgusting.

just gone back to look Roy.......

Porkie_pie Report 7 Dec 2012 20:29

kay, She only put the call through,,,,,,,she was not the one that gave out any details?

She was a nurse not a switchboard operator and when such calls from relatives are put through by another nurse to the nurse looking after a patient the later would have expected the first nurse to qualify the callers ID before putting it through, So this lady would have thought it was her fault regardless

....Don't know about the procedures in any hospital let alone this one......I just question the level of *support* she was receiving.

Porkie_Pie Report 7 Dec 2012 22:33

Muffyxx, Did you read my post 7 Dec 2012 20:29 on page 2? i have given my take about that, on that post

And yes Nurses have been known to get the blame when someone higher up should be walking the plank

Roy

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 7 Dec 2012 22:26

Roy this nurse though wasn't the one that went into detail..she just answered the phone and put the hoaxers through to the ward where Kate was...she didn't breach confidentiality at all..

My uncomfortable feeling comes from years of watching how the hierachy in any company try to deflect blame away from themselves when the s*** hits......batter the most vulnerable is the answer...I could well be wrong...but from experience someone on high would be looking to aportion blame somewhere to cover their own failings....it may be the case here..though I have no evidence of it in this case.....just a gut instinct., and years of experience watching it transpire.

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 7 Dec 2012 22:12

dangersprout, A link to What? If you mean my post 7 Dec 2012 21:44 above then i don,t need one to make that statement

She and her colleague would be subject to disciplinary action for a breach of patient confidentiality which is taken very seriously in the medical profession whether in a NHS or private hospital

A nurse can be struck off the medical register for breach of patient confidentiality

Allan Report 7 Dec 2012 22:02

Sue, presenters like these two, Kyle Sandilands and others bring in a h*ll of a lot of advertising revenue...the more poular they are, the bigger the audience, the wider advertisers can reach.

Most stations only react to adverse situations like this one when sponsors withdraw their money...then the stations are quick enough to take some action...not much but some.

Meanwhile, the perpetraors of the various 'shock' situations believe that they have the personality to carry it off.

I've seen more personality in a cemetery. Brainless pratts!!

if I used the various expressions that come to mind, I'd quite justifiably be RR'd

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 7 Dec 2012 21:54

Roy, official statements do not confirm or even imply that. Do you have a link?

Sue, I was asking the question after seeing the news report which suggested that Australians, in general, didn't find it as mindless and damaging as people in the UK.

This changed immediately after the suicide.

Of course I am not personally saying that I believed this, just asking someone on the ground what their thoughts were and those around Sydney.

The fact that the station could still promote the 'prank' as worthy of more than one viewing was, to me, not consistent with the apology. Plus it had been reported as 'forced' so they didn't take complaints seriously at all.

Allan Report 7 Dec 2012 21:48

I don't think that the news has totally broken in Aus yet. certainly nothing on West Oz radio so far. I don't normally watch early morning TV but I would assume it is on there.

Definitely on the Oz internet news.

Some radio staions in Oz employ radio 'personalities with absolutely no talent and who can only gain popularity through notoriety.

There has been no end of stupid things done in the name of 'news'

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 7 Dec 2012 21:44

Muffyxx, No your not alone in your thoughts,

She would have been told that disciplinary action would be taken against her and her colleague

I think the headlines and comments in the Mail online, give a good representation of the general reaction, which I wouldn't assume would be any different in Australia than it is here....idiots are idiots in any country.

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 7 Dec 2012 21:37

I feel like i'm the only one who thinks the hospital has a major part of the blame in this...it's only their say so that she wasn't threatened with disciplinary action....
They had a duty of care....and by putting her in this position..(she is after all a nurse NOT a receptionist)...I don't feel it's been met.

It's utterly ridiculous that a private hospital hasn't got major safeguards in place to guard against this sort of thing especially as it has such high profile patients...
