	In my house, cause tends to be mold.......doesn't taste much different though .... :-D :-S

	Sorry,I have finally been making the Christmas cakes. What I mean is that Cheddar in the south is generally white whereas,in the north, it seems to have anatto added to it. The first time I stayed in Yorkshire I thought I was being served Red Leicester.

	I did buy some red cheddar in Aldi this week which was most unusual this far south.

	Cheddar is Cheddar - I expect it all tastes the same, whatever colour it is.

	Funny you mentioning Cheddar, I got some yesterday and I have never noticed the warning on the back label before, it says... Allergy Warning : this product contains "cows milk". I thought all Cheddar cheese did :-S

	Red Leicester has a more lovely creamier mature taste than yellow/white cheddar which can be a bit bland sometimes ,,,,,and is served more often than not on a cheese board then white.

	Red Leicester is not red Cheddar.I don't like Leicester but I love mature Cheddar. They both get their colour from annato dye,as does Double Gloucester. I just wondered why the dye needed to be added for the northern market.

	we have both white cheddar and red chedar in the north east but i like the red better :-D :-D

	Because I never saw it until I was in my twenties and rarely see it nowadays red Cheddar always seems like a bit of an unnatural act to me,like it should taste ,or not taste much at all, like Red Leicester.
