Hi Jean...We find ourselves in this position for the past 5 years, raising our sons 2 little girls from shortly after their births & now aged 5 & 4. Both are delayed in developement & still catching up to where they should be age wise. Yes, it's been a struggle, but equally a struggle for them too & they've had many obstacles to overcome. Just recently the eldest began talking & other day thanks to her speech therapist, was able to say Santa! Believe me, a few tears were shed....she's on a roll now & no stopping her! We decided sometime ago, that somebody had to step up to the plate & no way could we turn our backs on them.

K/Regards,
A/Canuck :-)

Hi A/Canuck, I do admire you for caring for your sons girls. My neice has brought up her grandson form 3 months old. Hes 9 now, his mother has just had another child. The baby wont be home for a while..only weighed 3lbs. Without the help and support of family, many children would be in care... so i think my neice will have to bring up the new baby. Like you, she wouldnt turn her back on the child. I bet the tears you shed were of joy...your hard work has been rewarded. Have a great christmas with your girls.

Hi Jean,
Thank you & yes tears of joy all around! I too admire family, who take on the responsibility of raising little ones & not have them placed in care. Very best to your niece Jean & you too have a great Christmas....Take care.

A/Canuck :-)

We have grandsons Tues and fri from 6 in the morning to when my daughter gets home from collage or from work., both childern need help with school work but we just think we are doing the best we can for our daughter and grandsons.

Her OH is not around and his family have not seen the children for 3 years
I t bring tears of joy when thay say nan or grand dad you are the best in the world. They always go to grandad if they need help with lego and he love it

My grand parents help to bring me up so i am just doing what they did.

The 1 thing that makes me mad is that her ex does not do his bit,but at the end of the day it is he who does not get to play with his children and see all the things that they do he will never get that time back but we have had that time with them and i love it

Happy christmas to you all

How about this then?

A friend has a grandaughter by her own daughter. The little girl had a difficult birth and consequential problems including limited sight and development problems. My mate spends alot of time with the little girl so her daughter can work part-time.

Her son lives twenty-five miles away with his high flying wife and two children. My mate also looks after these children and was doing so for a lot of hours when the wife was after another job.

My mate was exhausted, she is in her sixties, and was having to stop driving sometimes to have a little kip.

She told the son's wife this and now.............

The son's wife says she is not safe to drive the children!!!!
