I'm hoping to buy an ipad or nexus7, I just want to be able to access e mails go on face book and on here, my bank etc, so other than price what are the differences, any advice greatly appreciated.

I have an Ipad, the reason we chose Ipads (OH has one too) was that when we looked at them im PC W they had all of them on display, all the tablets, and we preferred the screen picture of the IPad. The IPad may also have more apps than others. You may not think you need apps but when you have the tablet you find that some of them are either useful or entertaining.
I am on my desk top at the moment but find accessing e mails and GR very easy on the IPad. Of course I am unable to comment on the Nexus7.

I too love my iPad....bought it last year when I went to Oz,and it has been a revelation and so easy.
I'm so glad I was talked into it by my son...and since I've shown friends they have now gone for the iPad...like Ann I can't comment on the Nexus 7,and I do believe the ipad is the Rolls Royce of tablets .
Whatever you will find you use your computer less.
Hope this helps.

The iPad is very ez to use and is a total drain on your wallet - iTunes, external speakers etc etc. If you get one then at least make sure it has the latest interface as the older one has been dropped.

The Nexus7 will do all the same things and a lot more on top for free. It is also a lot cheaper and better made. This last year Apple-made-in-China build quality is more than a bit of the pace. It needs you to (slightly) engage brain. OTOH as I said it does not demand as serious and ongoing relationship with yr wallet.

I have both ( and lots of other gadgets 'cos of my work ).

Other half ( a computer idiot ) likes the iPad best. But then she does not pay the I.T. bills.

Oh yeah, the iPad is ez to get hold of. The Nexus7 is as scarce as hen's teeth, sold out all the time. I wonder why?

Well, I haven't found the IPad a drain on my wallet because I don't go for ITunes, speakers etc, I have a desk top for that, I only wanted the IPad for email and internet access when on holiday and in the evenings when I don't want to be sitting st the desk top.

very, very expensive way to get email and the internet then.
It is ezpz to get an old Mac laptop for around £ 100 which would do the same thing or a small form format SFF Pentium4 with Windoze for £ 50.

If somebody is facing off Nexus7 ( as ez to find as a unicorn ) v iPad then there ambitions are probably more extensive.

It is light to carry when we go abroad, I can download my photos onto it and I can write letter, diary etc on it ready to print off when I get home.

We are ipad lovers, in both senses!

Cant comment on the 7, dont have one. I do find the ipad, takes a lonnng time to charge, even with all the Apps turned off

There are more Apps to download and lots are either 'cheap' or 'free'

It's so light too and easy to transport

itunes......download to the ipod and 'cloud' sends them to the pad

Another thing about the iPad ...I find FaceTime much better than Skype, especially for face to face with Oz.I often have conversation with grandson who is on his iPod touch and Im relaxing in my recliner chair.
I have synced my music and don't need external speakers.Spent very little on apps, take photos ,go on all the web sites I want much faster than computer.Emails,google.Its a fantastic instrument and fits easily in my bag.

I've looked at both and I think it will be the Nexus7, cos it is cheaper and seems to do all that I want without having to use the main PC, but I shall see what Santa brings me first. Thank you all for your help though. :-)
