Yesterday I baked my piece of gammon/ham, and followed a Nigella recipe recommended by daughter. |

I have just put Guiness in mine, we have cooked it this way quite often and it is delicious, also brown sugar and anything that is around the veg box. |

Chris, this is first simmered in the Diet Coke along with an onion . When finished, and cool enough to handle, the skin is removed, but leaving a thin layer of fat. Then you smear on a layer of Black Treacle, then a layer of a mix of Demerera Sugar and Mustard Powder. Pop back into the oven to caramelise the top. The cooking juices are then used for soup stock. |

I've tried the gammon cooked in cola a few times, and it's excellent. This year, I've tried a small gammon with apple and mustard glaze from Iceland, very good indeed, and a small piece of smoked gammon. Both were enjoyed with cauliflower cheese for dinner last night, with plenty left over. Yum! |

Well that is a new one on me, I cook with a lot of weird and wonderful things (usually hubby ! ) There are a lot of great flavoured honeys out there that I like to experiment with and often cook with beer, cider, guiness etc The combination of all 3 by the way make a fantastic gravy that I used to serve at the pub. |
