i have done this before so i know what to do but after some tree updates i have done recently i thought i would export my gedcom, so i clicked the link but received no file in my email, i thought it was just a glitch so i went to try again but it seems to be stuck with the message

"Your tree is currently being processed. Please wait until your tree returns to the ready state before exporting another GEDCOM file."

its been like this for a couple of days now can anyone help

Hi Daniel,

I have had that problem since 14:30pm yesterday, I have reported it to Support, but no update about it :-(

Although the "Access to tree " problem appears to have been resolved, this problem is still ongoing.

Admin did say that they would reset the Gedcom generator ( or something similar) but that was some hours ago.

I added several ancestor Baptism records yesterday, but am reluctant to add anything more to my tree until I can be sure that I am able to export my tree to another program that I can use off line ( such as in the local County Records Office which has no wifi access)

thanks for the replies hopefully they will sort it out soon as it seems they have reset the tree because there were problems only to cause another

OneFootInTheGrave Report 29 Dec 2012 08:25

When I got up this morning I was hoping to do some work on my tree and that the problem with exporting to a GEDCOM file would have been resolved. After the events of the past 8 days I should have known better than to count my chickens before they hatched, because when I tried to export my tree as a GEDCOM file I still cannot do this :-(

All I get is this - "Your tree is currently being processed. Please wait until your tree returns to the ready state before exporting another GEDCOM file"

Last update I saw about this was Alisdair's post yesterday saying "Admin did say that they would reset the Gedcom generator ( or something similar) but that was some hours ago"

This has been the status for nearly 2 days and I do not want to add anything on my tree until this is fixed as I always make a back up to a GEDCOM file to avoid the possibly of loosing any new stuff I have added.

Anyone got any update on the situation?

Just taken note of the Genes threads asking people about family tree week ,what a ru**y joke ,when members can't even export their gedcom,,come on Genes get your act in gear ,before there is a mass exodus to a better family history site.and there are a couple of good ones :-( Fred :-|.

Received the following fairly standard reply from Support @GR rather late last night:

"Thank you for taking the time to report this problem.

I have passed the details of this specific issue to our technical team to look at and investigate.

Your patience while we work to resolve this is much appreciated."

My patience ran out some time ago.

Hi Karen,

I got that message two days ago :-(

In reply to a post I made on Genes Reunited on Facebook asking when it would be fixed, I got this message from someone on there:-

"Weekend/Bank Holiday - there will be no-one working now until the holidays are over"

I just wish I had a twitter account so I could tweet Chris van der Kuyl the
CEO Brightsolid regarding the appalling service we are receiving

Alisdair

Alisdair Report 29 Dec 2012 12:48

Very unsatisfactory ... I haven't even had a reply to my latest EMail, and I begrudge using FB to get a response , and I don't do twitter, either.

It's because it's a weekend / Bank Holiday that we're trying to add to family research in our free time.

Once I can export my tree into another program I probably won't return. This was my favourite of the advertised sites, but the performance over the last week has dissuaded me from subscribing and I'll use my Christmas money elsewhere.

Hi - I am on twitter & have tweeted the CEO. Good suggestion :-)

I refuse to rejoin Facebook to find out information which they should be sharing on their own site! That just adds to my irritation.

Will let you know if I hear anything further....

Response received by EMail:-

"Dear Alisdair

Thank you for taking the time to report this problem.

I have passed the details of this specific issue to our technical team to look at and investigate.

Your patience while we work to resolve this is much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

No real help, but at least they have replied.

5 days now and still the problem persists

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 31 Dec 2012 08:28

Why has this not been fixed??? :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

At the bottom of the Home Page there is a "Meet The Team" link and it lists 8 key people. There is an announcement board and and you would think that at least one of them would have the decency to stand up and be counted and tell us why 5 days on we still cannot Export/Import a GEDCOM File.

We are intelligent people, we just want to know what the problem is and when we can expect it to be fixed, not a lot to ask is it?

The last person on the list is the Marketing and PR Executive. PR being "Public Relations" it will be interesting to see what PR Spin they will put on this if the press get wind of the total fiasco of tree problems over the past 10 days.

day 6 and still i have problems exporting my gedcom

Christopher

Christopher Report 1 Jan 2013 18:34

Ditto

Alisdair

Alisdair Report 1 Jan 2013 18:41

Double ditto

It is a bit pathetic isn't it?

I had loads of free time to continue research over the last 10 days, but was reluctant to add more to my tree ( when it started working again !) in case the export problem meant I would lose the data.

So, I'm off to the County Records Office ( where there isn't wifi ) with an out of date Gedcom loaded onto my netbook and good old pen(cil) and paper to record everything to add to GU when things get back working.

Daniel

Daniel Report 1 Jan 2013 23:15

they must be doing something because the whole tree is down now, well i hope they are doing something
