Just watched the film Zulu, got to thinking, my father told me many moons ago his mother had meet Henry Hook, one of the men that won a VC, when she was a young girl.

Thought I would check things out, found he was born in Gloucestershire and died there. So could not possible have meet him. Then found he was in Islington marrying 2nd wife and had two children born there. He married an Ada Letita Taylor, my grandmother was also a Taylor, both had William Taylor as father, getting more excited, alas not same William, but fun while it lasted.

Now thinking why would he have been at her house?

Oh Susan, I am useless at channels, was bored with normal channels and just kept clicking, sorry.

Was quite disappointed to google and find out that the two apparent heroes where a bit of a waste of space. Think they were hyped up for the film.

Carol.

I like Zulu, but prefer Zulu Dawn about the Battle of Isandlwana between British and Zulu forces.

Really intriguing for you, Carol, hope your investigations pay off.
"Zulu"is a fascinating piece of history, I'd love to go Rourke's Drift some day.
