Hi Jax, yes we're ok thanks, bit shocked lol on my third coffee right now.

Dan woke me when a hand appeared on his window ledge!, we 'think' it may be someone drunk thinking they were climbing in to their own bedroom, the front door being locked, Police were here quickly but couldn't see anyone around.

Nothing like a peaceful start to the New year is there!

I'm just staying up , in case the police come back, he got another call while he was here so went dashing off.

Oh scary, Rose, hope the idiot will be caught, did they leave any footprints under the window or hand prints on the sill?

Hope you can get some rest and will manage to put the fright behind you. Maybe grow some nice spiky things under the windows to deter anyone getting too close.

Hope all is ok Rose. But you are probably right, somebody thinking it was his house. He probably got as much as a shock as you when he realised it wasn't. Are you on the ground floor or had he climbed up something?

Hi all, had an hours sleep, Dan hasn't, just waiting to hear from the police at some point. Told the neighbours who didn't hear anything.

'he' and assume it was a 'he', climbed on the bin, onto the flat roof of the porch , then put his hand on to the window ledge to the side , quite a stretch really, to pull himself in, fortunately the lock on it means it only opens a few inches. He was startled by Dan seeing the hand ( Dan was startled also!) and jumped/fell into next doors front garden knocking their porch support over. I am maliciously hoping he hurt himself doing so! :-D

We had our very first burglars on May 1st 2012. Broke the lock, took my brand new 42" plasma and sat nav and works mobile about midnight. Police came and tried to secure door. At 1.30pm I was sat shaking looking at a now invisible TV and the two rotters came back in and tried to take more stuff. I ran up the street after them, but then discovered I was over pension age and they got away into the night.

All for about £100 of drugs money, I feel sure. And it ends up costing you money because you spend on extra security. Over £1,000 for me this year, mainly a new front door. And many many sleepless nights.

Cannot even say don't worry, as I am convinced this sort of opportunist crime (often drink or drugs fuelled) is on the increase - whatever police stats tell us. :-( :-(

We have been burgled twice, the 2nd time we had a fair idea who had done it but nothing came of our thoughts.
We also had an attempted burglary when on holiday, we were in a caravan and the window was slightly open and the lad tried to force it open, not sure if I was as shocked to see him as he was to see me but he did fall over his feet as he legged it .
We've also had the drunk climbing the neighbours garden fence trying to find his house, boy was he embarrassed the next time we saw him sober.lol

Hope you both feel ok. It takes a while to get over sometimes.

Rose, Sorry to hear some one tried to make off with your winnings :-D To much publicity) however, if you can get some of the stuff they use to grip your carpet and Glue /,Nail it to parts where they would attempt to get a handhold ,It works,Take care. **M**.

well can't say too much perhaps, but two detectives and a CSI have been ( sadly not Grissom lol) and looks like they may have a suspect as another house was also 'tried'...to what extent I don't know.

I hope You and Dan are ok and have stopped shaking after the attempted burglery.

Glad you have had an hour but try and rest and feet up this pm.

Also Forensics should have been around to have a look for footprints ie pattened trainer print also fingerprints from thewindowsil.

I hope when they catch him that they throw the book at him.

Dan should keep a baseball or cricket bat in his bedroom just in case.

Sue, They've got a partial print from the window ledge, which may not be enough on its own but might help if it ties in elsewhere,

I haven't got a baseball bat lol, but I may keep my nan's rolling pin made out of gt grandfather's ferry oar 'handy' for a while ;-)
