I do it because it is there to do but I think proper carers are pretty damned brilliant.

I do it 12hrs a day at work,and then come home and do it again,thats life,

I always promised my mum that I would take care of my mentally handicapped sister, unfortunately my sister died before my mum, needless to say mum never got over her death. :-(

BrianW I have read before that you come from my home town, I wonder if your BIL use to/does go to Thursday evening Gateway Club, if so you may have known my sister Sarah she would have been 49 now.

Okay I'm a balling again so another box of tissues needed.:-S :-( <3

LESLEY im the same age as your sister would have been,and im a carer for my daughter,and work full time as a nurse.

My BiL has ben with us since 2007 with his mum when she was taken ill. She died in 2010.
We haven't yet investigated Chelmsford Mencap, but probably should do.
My BiL went to a day centre in Romford some years ago when they live there, but complained of being picked on or bullied so was taken out of it. I don't know how he would react to the idea now.
