How could you have upset anyone?

If anything, you've prompted many of us to think about donating or resuming if we've got out of the habit :-D

Since all my children are O neg, the chances are high that the foetus was also the same. Lets hope that I never need a transfusion.

Even if a reader has no intention of donating, it's really important that they know what their blood group is, and that their children know theirs. Although blood tests in pregnancy may reveal the group and factor, pre warned is pre armed. If teenagers (any female really) fall pregnant and then have an early miscarriage in secret, they could be at risk of developing the anti bodies which could cause serious problems in later pregnancies.

I'm A rh-. Used to be a blood donor in UK, but not allowed to donate in Australia, as we lived there when Mad Cow Disease was first recognised :-( :-(

Hi Det, I never realised it was so complicated :-(

I hope I haven't upset anyone by posting this. I do feel though that anyone reading through might go off and google and learn something. I did.

Mine, and that of the offspring, are O neg.

Like Sandie, I used to donate, but never returned after the birth of the last born. I always seem to have a cough or cold when the mobile unit came round.

My mum was also an O neg donor. Eldest gives, middle one was turned away on their first attempt as they were recovering from Fresher's Flu, and youngest has needle phobia.

After a 'last gasp' unplanned pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage, I didn't follow up with a blood test or 'Rhesus factor' injection. Retrospectively I should have just in case the feotus was O+ and I now have 'odd' blood.

It is advisable to know the Blood Group of all your immediate family.

Mother was A neg and had probs when giving birth to my sis, by the time she had me , A pos she'd had the necessary treatment and I popped out no probs :-)

I have my 25 badge, would have been well on my way to my next, but having 2 children it sort of puts a stop on things for the period of pregnancy and 12months after ,when you cannot donate. I felt like an Ox after having my son and went merrily along when he was 6mths old ,only to be turned away:((

Whatever blood group you are donatitons are always required.
If you are the special blood group O neg please donate asap.

3 peeps already on this thread O neg who can donate :-D :-D

I think I'm O positive.
Tried to give blood in my 'youff' - was told I wasn't heavy enough ie under 8 stone.
Since then I've unwittingly put on weight, but having found out (at 52) that I've only got 1 (albeit healthy) kidney, I'm not allowed to give blood. :-(

I'm O negative and used to give blood some years ago. No reason why I shouldn't now - I am a bit low at the moment but that is mental, not physical :-)
