Kay, she was not flying her Red Drawers instead of a Red Dragon,They were being used at the time as a "Spinaker" in the round the world Yacht Race. :-D :-D at the moment they could be in the Atlantic, full of wind which speeds the boat on its way, they are doing about 25knots so it shows how large they must be. :-D :-D :-D.Retiring now to Fall out Shelter with steel helmet on. PMSL. ;-)

Putting on my reasonable head.....

It is possible that the reporter did so in good faith, ie having read some of the more 'argumentative' posts on the thread ( and perhaps not reading to the end) they genuinely felt it was a thread which was causing / had caused an uncomfortable atmosphere and perhaps had now run it's course and was serving no further purpose as nothing'new' had been added ( ie no further 'news' on the matter?)

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt on it perhaps? that rather than plod through reporting individual posts they thought it would be easier to report the OP in the hope that it would ALL go away in one fell swoop?

:-)

Note thread reinstated this morning. One of the posts within the thread was rr'd, and I admitted that was me. Think, whether you agree or not I was right to report, there is nothing wrong with reporting a post in the midst of a thread if you think it breaks T & C.

But to report an OP like that is absolutely ridiculous and I agree with every word that Sue has written in her second post (got arm behind back and crossing my fingers as I write this in excruciating pain) ;-)

Why does a whole thread go if an OP is reported and upheld anyway? Why not simply ask the OP to rephrase OP slightly to make sure it is not racist, abusive or whatever has upset the person reporting OP for review.

Genuinely puzzled as a newbie to these boards :-S :-S :-S

I hope she listens, no reasonable person could take exception to the original post.

If someone objected to views stated later in the thread then he/she should have reported the specific posts.

I have contacted Estelle already and stated my case.

If he did perhaps he should be composing another letter now so more publicity comes his way. After all that's what he's been doing ever since the event.

I wouldn't think that GR will delete the thread Sue, but just to be sure, perhaps an email to them with your concerns will ensure that it stays put.

mind you.....perhaps the person mentioned in the OP saw it and took offence ;-)

My RRd thread contained posts by members who took a long time to research their views. People who usually don't add came on and gave their opinion and very welcome they were too.

So to RR an OP which was an unadulterated copy of a local news item that went national very quickly is obviously strange.

We have spats and the content of that thread was no different. As usual when things got really heavy humour was brought onto it to lighten the tone.

As it had been running for 5 days and had attracted so many replies the RRer has achieved nothing more than insulting the kind contributors who have put a lot of time and thought into their posts.

Shame on you for disrespecting fellow GR members.
