Ann - I had enough problems (later on) with my own husband!! A dog was soooo much easier - 'You don't kill those sheep or I'll be cross' works with a dog :-D

Also had the priviledge up there of being 'safe' - a predatory female wished to have intimate relations with every bloke she could - so they (the blokes) took me out as a 'foil'. Free drinks, taxi home .....possibly a bit of a reputation with those not 'in the know'

I was considered a bit of a 'loony' ( her with the dog) even in my early 20's :-D :-D

I got my divorce from my first husband in 1978, and got engaged to my now, lovely husband, at the ripe old age of 30.

Very rare to find me on the boards at this time of night, but my Dad has fallen out of bed, and my Hubby has gone up to the hospital with him. Don't think he's badly hurt, but I'm waiting for news.

Watched it way back in 1964 :-(

James. You must be a boring old f**t like me. I know all that music really well. Chubby Checker is the cause of many of our hip replacements. On other hand I thought Ottowa was capital of Canada and a chic was up in the Shetlands with a dog :-S :-S

Was the Birdie Song about 1978. I can still do the hand movements though I am no longer able to get down below the waist :-(

The Birdie song originated in Switzerland in the 1950's, think initially it was called "The Duck Song".

Since the 1950's, throughout he world there have been numerous versions released over the years, and here in the UK when "The Tweets" sang it, I think it was in 1981, it reached number two in the charts.

1978 - W.Germany. Where depends on the month - either Im Eichengrund, near Monchengladbach, or beautiful Celle, south of Hamburg.

And as for 1949.

December 1949 started 3 months Merchant Navy training at Gravesend Sea School.

Last summer I went to see a live Swinging sixties show with some of the originals from that decade, Herman's Hermits, Freddie and the Dreamers, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Cilla Black, The Tremeloes, all oldies now, but they still packed the place out and it was a great night. OLd Rockers never die............ well thats what my OH says anyway.

I'm a dedicated Folk music fan, and if ever Joan Baez, Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention, Kate Rusby, Seth Lakeman - to name but a few - are appearing locally, I'm first in line for tickets.
Have many great memories of Folk clubs in the North East in the 60's and 70's.

Oh Dear, now all these nice people think I'm a nerdy wierdo !
