A person puts an opening post (as you have done) other people add their comments (as I have) and it then becomes a 'thread'.

The opening post can be about almost anything you like, as you will be able to see from the general chat pages.

Excuse general PC ignorance but what IS the definition of a thread?

I assume it means just one subject (family name) and just one subject is put on one post.
