	A person puts an opening post (as you have done) other people add their comments (as I have) and it then becomes a 'thread'. The opening post can be about almost anything you like, as you will be able to see from the general chat pages.

	People sometimes refer to the thread of a conversation and that' s just what a thread is - a conversation. Posts are the comments in that conversation.

	Passes Errol a darning needle Refering to Ros' 2nd question "I assume it means just one subject (family name) and just one subject is put on one post" If you are going to ask for FH research help on Find Ancestors etc, etc, then yes, one thread per family. Should you have a second query fairly closely related to that family, then add to the original thread, rather than start a new one. This is because 'helpers' often think laterally and it is useful to be able to read what has already been researched so that they don't spend time re-doing it.
