Thankyou to those who asked about my Dad after his fall. The hospital let him out this afternoon, as he hadn't broken any bones. He does seem even more frail, though, and is looking a bit sheepish at the moment, with some lovely bruises!

He'd better not do that again tonight, we need our beauty sleep!

Lynda x

Thankyou, both. I think he'll be OK, he always seems to bounce back after mishaps, leaving his family feeling frazzled!

Watch out, GP, I might send him back to Geordieland! :-)

Probably those bruises will grab him sympathtic attention amongst his lady friends in that residential complex where he lives in East Angular (hope I got that right). He will be telling everyone that other chap came off worse.

Probably lying asleep peacefully and was dreaming of being a high jumper in 1948 Olympics. Or a horse in show-jumping. Hope bruises don't affect his beauty :-D ;-)

And hope you and OH get your sleep back :-D :-D

Well, boys, I'll pass on yer messages.
GP, there's a lovely manager at his retirement institushun, but she despairs of 'im.
Now, John, you may get on quite well with my Dad, his grandfather was Welsh, and he sobs when he hears a Welsh male voice choir, so maybe I'll send him down to you in the valleys! :-D

Glad your Dad is ok after his fall, and pleased that he is in such a good place to live, must ease your mind a bit even if he is accident prone.

Hope he recovers his strength soon and seems less frail, it must have shaken him up somewhat.

Some arnica will help his bruises heal quicker and ease the pain too.

Lynda. Wow!!!! Have got a spare room and I would love somebody to sob with as I enter the retirement phase of my life.

I even sob when Treorchy sing "Mary Ann's finger is hurt, and David the servant is not well. The baby is the cradle is crying, and the cat has scratched little Johnny".

It is the way they sing those beautiful words of Sospan Fach that will get me and your dad sobbing. It is known as hiraeth - longing. An emotion lost on the English who cannot even sing "Johnny Remember Me" with damp eyes :-D

Don't like to tell you this John, but even though he has strong Welsh genes, he says he can't stand the Welsh!

Liz - he was given co-codimol by the hospital, but will never take them cos he doesn't like to be constipated! Might try some arnica, thanks for the tip.

My Dad became increasingly frail during last week, unable to get out of bed unassisted by Tuesday, unable to get out of his chair on Sunday morning. He was clearly unwell, and we called for assistance. He was taken to hospital, where they found his kidneys had failed.
He has not responded to treatment, and has gone into a coma. He is now on the Liverpool Care Pathway, and it is just a matter of time. The hospital staff are giving him excellent care, and ensuring his comfort, although he is unawareof what is happening.
He was so adamant about not staying in hospital after his fall, but if he had, maybe his condition could have been caught in time. Elderly people can be so stubborn. Even on Sunday he didn't want to be admitted.
