The song by the way is from Jesus Christ Superstar and its Pontius Pilates song

Lying good debate Rose.
I have found since Mother Dear has arrived that I am getting rather good at lying by omission but I don´t feel that bad as she has lied to me all my life.
I would like to say I don´t lie and I don´t tolerate liars. but both statements would be untrue. I have twisted the truth for ease of life and I have allowed myself to be lied to for the same reasons.

There is one thing to say Rose, and that is that we are both very lucky to live where we do. However humble our lives (and my nose is quite close to the carpet these days) we can go outside and within a very few miles be in the most stunning scenery. Nowhere is nicer in England than Shropshire, and nowhere in Wales is not fabulously nice.

And when I wrote a book in Welsh 40 years ago (yes, I do tell the truth) it sold quite a few - well, it was only 8/- and it was to explain the new decimal currency in Welsh.

Tesco sold it and the top ten stores (out of 40 that we sold it through) included Shrewsbury and Oswestry!!! Both outside Wales in Shropshire. :-D :-D

John we always called our garden in Wales 'the estate' and perambulated around it also lol it was quite large...though nowhere near acres, just different areas... woody bits and grassy bits, and shrubby bits. :-D

JustJohn Report 8 Jan 2013 16:14

Rose. I have just perambulated round my estate after my anchovies on toast, have checked my trees and lake and am sat in my folly looking out over the Channel and cogitating. My valet is bringing my Horlicks and Welsh cake and quite chilly in the "Dardanelles".

Now what did I say in August was the name of my castle? How many acres did I say? I know so many believed me, and I would hate to let them down. ;-)

For some a cracking lie is preferable to the truth

Supposedly 'catching someone out' in what you perceive to be a lie, but without having bothered ( or been able ) to check properly is not proof they are a 'liar' .... believing someone is honest simply because they say so and you have not seen them lie yourself, is not proof they are 'honest'.

Some people are not really aware they are lying, they have genuinely forgotten that they said something different previously, ( they may have changed their viewpoint on a specific matter when they know more about it for example, or have exaggerated the truth 'slightly' without intending malice ...knocked a few years, or weight off or added a few more acres to their 'estate' :-) ).

Some people pretend they never lie, and make strenuous efforts to cover all traces and are only sometimes recognised as liars when the 'evidence' is noted by various un-biased people independently of each other before it can be covered up or removed entirely....but they still appear to be 'honest ' to the majority.

A good memory, as many have said, is essential
:-D

There are lies, damned lies and statistics (Benjamin Disraeli).

There are 8 million members of Genes Reunited (not sure who said that, but may have been Levi Strauss, who composed the Blue Danube) :-) :-S

I used to work with a man some years ago one of his sayings was "In all honesty" ............... He was usually adding a few lies to his story. My Mother always told me you have got to have a good memory if you are going to tell lies, so I try to stick with the truth.

Tell the truth and shame the Devil, thats what my gran always used to say,but sometimes its best to tell a little White one or stretch it a little if you know its going to hurt some one badly.**M**

I suppose the kind of liar I really dislike most lol is the one who never gets caught out by enough people to be recognised as such, except by the few who've caught on.... that niggles :-)

I think like most I tend to lie by omission where possible.....but i am guilty of lying to spare people's feelings at times for sure x

hmmmph

If someone asks me about someone else....... and I've been told in confidence......... I ask "why do you need to know?" If they take offense, that's their problem.
