Never lie about serious subjects re me or my family. Yes I do avoid telling the truth if I am asked to betray a confidence. I'll avoid saying anything to close friends which would be considered a lie about hair or clothing, acting or being thick helps.

Other times someone will get right in between the eyes if they are lying because I cannot abide 'puffed up' lying as in the replies to support for illness threads where it turns into a competition!

WE HAD TO DECLINE,BECAUSE THAT NIGHT OUR ADORABLE 2YR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WAS STAYING OVER,NO ONE COMES BETWEEN ME AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER.

Suzanne. I hope nobody lied on that thread. Many of us drove a lot of miles to meet with you in Pwllheli. I know MrD believed every word you wrote, though I was a lot more cynical. ;-)

I suspect you spent your usual Friday evening with the couple who live next door - you know, the bow and scrape ones with a bun in the oven. :-D

I have been known to tug out the truth on one or more occassions however I have never lied about my true self to try impress others because I am just what I am.
My Mum used to say to me as a child, " Hayley tell me the truth now as you know I can tell when you are lying and I will find out the truth in the end, and I shall smack you tell me the truth now and I wont" So I used to tell the truth so I wouldnt get smacked.

My children have never told me lies :-D Of course they very well have done only simply as a Mother as most parents, we choose to think that their own children couldn't possibably be any thing but truthful after all isnt that the way we have brought them up. :-D :-D

Aaaah - so that's why they fall down :-S

And what about M & S changing their sizes - especially knickers many years ago?

OOO...Don't get me started on shops sizing :-|

My sister is a size 6, 8 or 10 depending on the shop....Note I am not admitting to my size ;-)

Wasn't there a 'directive' from the EU some time ago that was going to standardise sizing?

On a similar theme, though, in Cardiff one of the 'big shop' (poss BHS or M&S,not really sure, not being one's I frequent on a regular basis) has an 'restaurant' ((in my days, a coffee shop...)). If you sit in there and look out of the very large windows, directly across from this store is .... Ann Summers. Now, there's an exercise in 'perception' :-D :-D :-D ;-)

Mr Daff, Wickes do ironmongery and DIY stuff :-) I have some nice shelves from them but the closest they do to a dress is maybe a tarpaulin? though thinking about that it could be about my size :-)

A mirror is an innocent bystander, and should not be used in such a debate, imo.

Just consider that something in M&S is marked '12', yet in Wickes it's '18' !!

(Is it Wickes, or have I got that mixed up with somewhere else ??? :-S )

Have to admit, both my sister and I have a problem with lying - our faces give us away.
If someone (for example) says something offensive, we will say 'Okay' and walk away, but apparently our faces show absolute disgust!!

More than one person has tried this 'trick' on us - they think it's quite amusing

Have to admit to teaching my daughters to 'lie'.

The phrases 'Like nothing on Earth' and 'Out of this world' on the face of it seem to mean the same thing, but we know they mean the opposite.

Daughter's friend had a new dress, it was awful.
Friend asked daughter what she thought, Daughter didn't know what to say, so, I explained that if the friend liked it, daughter's opinion wasn't really relevant - the dress was there, so if she said it was 'Out of this world' the friend would be pleased, but in her mind, she could think it was like 'Nothing on Earth' :-D

Well I know my Bum looks big in 'it' and is huge compared to when the OH met me.

But he 'lies' and swears it doesn't and isn't.

I know he is lying.....Only have to look in the mirror for confirmation :-(

Consider, just how many 'types' of lie are there? Taking it from the fact that you can lie to yourself, or at the other extreme, you could 'lie to the world'.

Any guesses, or facts (no lying, now!!) ???
