South West Surrey / Hampshire borders, had a light covering around 6ish this evening. Nothing else so far this evening.

Big family party on Saturday and son and daughter in law are supposed to be coming up from North Exmoor, Somerset tomorrow evening.

Hope the A303 stays clear. M

It's foggy and seems to be melting here right now.

If it's going to snow, please throw it down by the bucket load before son has to go to work early this morning. He will attempt to go and if snow comes later, he'll get stuck.
I've told him and dau not to even to tempt it if the weather is as forecast. :-|

Just looked out in Herefordshire and we have a covering of snow. Luckliy we don't have to go out. Think OH will be wearing his furry hat as in picture today when we check the animals and bring in logs :-D

We were on red alert in Valleys last night. And 9" this morning everywhere.

Have seen no vehicles moving yet in my road. One or two car tracks in road (presumably 4 x 4). Quite a busy side-road usually. M4 currently shut between J36 and 37 (Bridgend area). Jackknife on A470, A4232 near Culverhouse Cross closed earlier near J33 M4.

Snow moving west during day but not on this scale. All schools in Blaenau Gwent closed (just open for A level studnets in some cases) and probably all schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf closed also

Brenda. Now 12" plus here (at about 600 feet up) and still snowing. M4 still closed at J36. M4232 (main road to west of Cardiff past Culverhouse Cross) blocked by 4 vehicles unable to climb the hill from A48 intersection. All 3 lanes otherwise down to 2 and all 2 lanes down to one.

And mountain roads locally (Bwlch, Maerdy and Rhigos) closed for several days.

At least I could have got out of Ffordd y Graig (Crag Road) this morning from Gwel y Don (glance of the waves). But probably have had to ditch Rolls Canardly (my car which rolls down ok but can hardly get back up the hill on way home) in village on way back, Brenda :-D ;-)

Hi Jude

We used to have sheep and the photo was taken 2 years ago with quads that arrived at 2 in the morning - always the way. We now have hens, a cat and the neighbours sheep. OH bought hat for me - but he needs it more due to lack of hair :-)

Keep safe everyone Kayx

Edit - M50 closed near Ross

Snowing heavily here and quite a strong wind blowing it. Can just see the main road and a truck has just gone along so the roads might be ok. Think the schools might be shut as neighbour hasn't gone in.

Gwyn. Not only a gloat but a goad :-D :-D ;-)

To be fair, we have had very mild and snow-free weather till about 6 hours ago. And we did have a red warning plastered all over the valleys last night :-)

Not had our Australian or Spanish friends saying how dreadfully hot it is yet. But am sure we can all sympathise. :-D

Just started with fine drops Kent south of the M25 near the Thames crossing.

If it were rain, you'd say it was drizzling. We aren't expecting more than 5cm, so shouldn't cause any disruption, but then there are always those people who have never driven/are confident in driving in snow before!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 18 Jan 2013 10:06

well it's here - big time, but have seen it much bigger :-D

looks to be about 6" deep and still coming down - nothing moving, tho I see my next door neighbour has gone to work as his van has gone - hope he comes back soon or he may get stuck somewhere

my cat is totally miffed - in and out - no idea what to do

no Sky - will have to get a broom out and see if I can knock the snow off the dish [from the bedroom window]!!

my new neighbours [Indians] have been in India for six weeks and came home last night - I have been picking up their post for them - bet they're a bit shocked - and cold

BarbinSGlos Report 18 Jan 2013 10:19

Ann. Have been thinking of you this morning. Now you go steady out the window. passers by might think you are on red alert :-D

4 g.daughters been notified by their bosses not to go in. One was walking it and was halfway there about 4 miles when phoned to go back.

Doesn't look like we will get it tomorrow again as was first forecast.

No busses running just when I was gonna go to W.S.Mare for a walk along the front

Stay warm everyone :-D

maggiewinchester Report 18 Jan 2013 10:41

At 5am, I looked out of the window, and it was icy - no snow.
At 7am the snow was falling fast - and still is!!
I'm not going out - I saw the ice that's underneath it :-|

strange here - although it's still snowing it also seems to be thawing at the same time - water dripping off the rooves - no gales tho!!!

At the moment we have just flurries of snow, but
the wind is getting up.
Hope you all keep safe and warm and doesn't last
for too long, here in the North East Scotland we
expect it this evening and tomorrow.

Surrey / Hants border, nothing at 5am a little at 7.am when I looked out and it started up again soon after that. We now have about two or three inches but has recently become very fine and much wetter.

Local schools closed at 11am although parents were told they didn't have to take children in at all if they didn't want to.

Next doors dogs are running round and round their garden, jumping in the air trying to catch the snow. A couple of dappy Springers.

Looks like the family plans for tomorrow are off, can't get hold of eldest son on Exmoor, youngest, in London hasn't had much yet and none is settling.

Anyone know what the A303 is like at the moment ? M
