GeordieinNorfolk Report 17 Jan 2013 19:13

Norfolk - parts of the county are Amber alert for snow by tomorrow morning, expecting 5 to 10 cm, depending on area. More snow Saturday, in fact, all days up to Tuesday looking dodgy. Winds are going to get up, so we may have blizzards and drifting. Not as bad as what is expected for Wales, though! Very cold here, has never got above minus 2c during today. Everything looks beautiful, though, especially the trees and bushes. We're putting out plenty of food for the birds, they really need it at the moment.
Take care, Everybody, wherever you are.
Lynda.

Earlier in week they said we would get it on West Wales coast, yesterday no, it would miss us. Today we are due for it again tomorrow (just).

Due to go back to the Valleys on Monday so we cannot make a decision until then whether we travel or not.

Just to warn you - the Met Office has now updated the amber snow warning to a red warning for the South Wales valleys tomorrow as below:-

A band of snow, heavy in places, will spread northeastwards across Wales and the southwestern half of England, during Friday morning, lasting through the afternoon and evening across much of Wales, the Midlands, southern and parts of southeast England. Winds will strengthen, leading to drifting of lying snow.

Many parts of the Red Warning area are likely to have 20-30 cm of snow with strong southeasterly winds causing blizzards, severe drifting of lying snow and thus severe disruption. The public should avoid all non-essential journeys.

Elsewhere, accumulations of more than 5-10 cm of snow will occur quite widely, with 15 cm in some western parts of the Amber area, falling within 3-6 hours. The public should be prepared for disruption, including altering travel plans.

Mersey...I too love Bodnant Gardens and will think of you when I go past.

It's not the Expressway ,John,as that will be treated Its the country roads that could be the problem....still not sure, waiting for lunchtime forecast.

Hello, calling from Durham; the place with the world's best-loved building - no, not what some bright spark connected to the Council wanted building near County Hall to 'PUT DURHAM ON THE MAP'. (Is he mad?)

No snow today (yet) but previous snow's lying. OK to walk to shops if one takes one's time. Our local roads seem passable but I know that in some of the villages it's still dicey.

Heavy snow and blizzards expected tomorrow.

Here's a snow story: we lived overseas and had to travel quite some distance and high up before we found snow in the wintertime. I put our wellies in boot and upon arrival went to get them out. Returning to the front of the car I found my daughter, then aged three, sitting in the snow and eating it!

The saying, 'Looks good enough to eat sprang to mind.' The same kind of thing happened with my son and a Christmas bauble before he was two.
