GlitterBaby Report 18 Jan 2013 20:36

Sleet, snow and hailstones and now 40 mph winds on the East Yorkshire Coast.

JustJohn Report 19 Jan 2013 10:03

The 12" we woke to yesterday has melted away this morning to about 5" in the Valleys. Reduced from red alert to amber alert.

But have not heard a bus go past or a car in over 2 hours. Would usually have been 4 buses one way and 4 the other and probably at least 60 cars going up and down road. Just about to venture out (cos we must!!) on foot. Hopefully trains are running normally today in valley bottom down to Cardiff.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 19 Jan 2013 10:59

Snow arrived yesterday evening and continued to lay a fair cover overnight, but that's all it is, - a covering. Transport along the coastal route will be fine, but it can be quite different once you head up the hills towards inland.

More snow due to be dumped on us in this south east corner from the continent

AnninGlos Report 19 Jan 2013 11:02

Hope it isn't too icy underfoot John, that is the main problem after snow, the ice underneath.

Our lovely neighbours have just knocked and asked if we need anything. we don't actually but they will get me a paper.

AnnCardiff Report 19 Jan 2013 11:37

no change here - trains not running on the branch line at the bottom of my garden - Cardiff to Coryton

Brenda from Wales Report 19 Jan 2013 11:52

AnnCardiff Report 19 Jan 2013 12:06

*$parkling $andie* Report 19 Jan 2013 23:26

Bit early in the day to be staggering Ann ;-) ;-)

Yep it is nasty on the pavements here too ,have to walk on the road and then jump back in the piled snow when a a vehicle comes along ( Dive in the snow if it's a large lorry)

AnnCardiff Report 20 Jan 2013 00:51

well I've just been looking at the five day forecast on BBC interactive and it looks like snow for us for the next few days :-D :-D :-D

Brenda from Wales Report 20 Jan 2013 09:26

Nothing here yet..looks dry on my patio...will see what happens later ...supposed to fall in N E Wales but hope it doesn't come this far!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Jan 2013 09:49

Lilybids- you'll have to send your daughter out shopping today so that you won't have to slip and slide on the pavements tomorrow ;-)
You're only supposed to be getting 2-5 cm, so it shouldn't grind everything to a halt :-D

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 20 Jan 2013 10:53

Very very fine snow, just leaving a thin layer on cars, l think it may have stopped now though.

jude ;-)

LaGooner Report 20 Jan 2013 10:59

Snow is very fine here in Bedfordshire but there is a lot of it. No sign of it easing off yet. :-|

Mauatthecoast Report 20 Jan 2013 11:00

We've had lots of deep snow for over a week now :-|...but got a good laugh yesterday when I saw on the local green that some 'wag' had built a snow-woman......complete with big boobies :-D

K Report 20 Jan 2013 11:20

Light snow in Herefordshire at the moment.

Most lovely thing about the snow was the reaction of my 92 year old MiL. She lives by herself, but thought it was wonderful and enthused greatly! It is the most excited we have seen her for ages. :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Jan 2013 11:31

Tut tut Lilibids! :-D

Apparently Wrotham Rd hasn't been gritted yet, which was a surprise to hear. They salt/sort out the roads, but pedestrians have to fend for themselves

AnnCardiff Report 20 Jan 2013 11:35

hmmm ..............just starting again - fine powdery stuff

Diamonds-R-A-Girls-Best-Friend Report 20 Jan 2013 12:01

Heavy snow near Colchester :-(

Choccy Report 20 Jan 2013 12:09

Heavy snow - Thanet, East Kent :-(

Maryanna Report 20 Jan 2013 12:54

No snow yesterday, husband cleared a path down the drive. It's been snowing again since around 8.30 this morning. Very fine and wet but it has covered his efforts.

Only 4 x 4 s have been up our road, we live at the bottom of a hill with no other way out but up.

Yesterday's family do was postponed, birthday girl couldn't get up from deepest Hampshire and eldest son was stuck on Exmoor.

Luckily no doctors appointments this week and I don't have to work until Wednesday and can walk if need be.
