Just been looking at it on the DM on line. What do you think of it. The art critics have slated it but I think there is something rather charming about it. sort of a Mona Lisa look. A 'guess what I am thinking' look.

I think it's lovely Ann. Beautifully done.

I just saw this too Ann,
I quite like it,plain and simple,her face is a bit fatter,lol!!!
I notice the critics said,Is it a Smile or a Grimace?
theres no pleasing some.
I think she is lovely,a natural beauty.
:-D :-D

kandj Report 11 Jan 2013 15:54

Not liking it, the artist hasn't captured her natural glow. I think she looks older than she is....... in my humble opinion.

I was talking about this earlier to a friend, we both agreed we'd be happy if we could paint like that lol. I think there are maybe a couple of lines that aren't there (yet!), the nose is not quite right perhaps and he's softened the chin a little, but the hair is particularly good.

I note a lot of people say she "looks about 50" in it...I wish I'd looked like that at 50 lol.

think it's beautiful - some so called art expert on the BBC this morning absolutely slated it :-S

Disappointed !

I think it has line's where she hasn't got lines, she doesn't have her youthful look.

She is a beautiful lady and a photo caught just right does her so much more justice.

Sorry ,..... from..an ex artist who likes well captured true photos and the wild vibrant obscure painting of a landscape ( Not Picasso! )

Just my opinion .

Jane Report 11 Jan 2013 17:35

I'm humming and hahing(sp) .Yes I do like it ,but I do think it makes her look older and yes rather tired.

GinN

GinN Report 11 Jan 2013 17:37

I think she looks really tired, especially around the eyes. Maybe she modelled for it while she was suffering from morning sickness!

JustJohn Report 11 Jan 2013 18:19

It looks nothing like her at all!!!! Artist has completely missed her beauty. I think he has done a painting of someone else and there is a vague similarity to Kate so he has pretended it is of her.

Look at photos of her. Then look at the picture and say it is the same person. Ugghhhh. But I am not a painter, and never that good at art and I must stress only my personal opinion :-) But sort of thing you would pay £1 for in Woolworths and put in the loo ;-)

Kay????

Kay???? Report 11 Jan 2013 18:41

It was painted from a photo of the artists choice of a submitted few , :-D

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 11 Jan 2013 18:45

Wonder who the photo was of. She is a little bit like Kate, same age as her mother, but nowhere near as attractive as her mum. :-D

Still not sure what to think. Must get off the fence ;-)

Rambling Report 11 Jan 2013 18:48

That's the thing if you look at the photo he painted from it's a good likeness... that photo was not perhaps the most accurate...the camera does lie lol.... my passport photo taken when I was in my twenties made me look like a drug addict...the latest one 'does not do me justice' ( the lady at the post office said so lolol) .

*$parkling $andie* Report 11 Jan 2013 18:48

Lol ,I wouldn't go quite as far as that John. (£1in Woolies and put it in the loo)

The painter says has changed the colour of her eyes slightly to match her blouse !
Just as well she wasn't wearing red. There's no twinkle in those beautiful eyes!!
Her beautiful glossy hair looks flat and greyish ! I suppose that cold be the print of the newspaper!

Re look.... No,.... I do not like it.....I don't think it flattering at all.

Well....you can see its Kate, l like it but there is something missing. l think its her eyes they make her look older, they are not as sparkly, also the cheek bones are'nt as showy!!
l found a photo online of her and copied that and the painting onto word (one page) and compared the two!!

jude:)

PS...mind you if l could paint like that l would be right chuffed:) x
