Marriage Boxes in the Tree up the creek again

James,

At the risk of seeming to be too cynical:-

Your message to GR includes the term "problems".
The GR reply does not mention "Marriage Data Fields". I just wonder whether that reply came from a real person, or if it was generated by an "Intelligent" software. If the latter, then your report is probably now in a holding file (along with many other fault reports) and will be dealt with in due course...

The reason for my cynicism
Before Christmas, when there were daily problems with tree access, I fired off a whinge to GR. The reply that I got bore no relation to the problem.

What I sent

Tree down yet again....
Come on guys & gals. What is going on here?
You will likely start to loose member renewals if this keeps happening over the Christmas break. Is that what Brightsolid really want?

YES, in response to my site message (ie I was logged in) their email included my email address and my password. And not a dickybird about the tree access situation.

Hi KenSE,

It appears there are problems and Genes Reunited are aware of them, as I have just had this response from them:-

"" Dear James

Thank you for taking the time to report this problem.

Our technical team are aware of the specific problem that you reported and we will be implementing a solution as soon as is possible.

Your patience while we work to resolve this is much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

I haven't found any problem on the GR tree with marriages but a marriage I put on my A*y tree yesterday has resulted in the spouse appeariung three times in the Family Members column even though there is only one instance of him in the tree.

KenSE,

Following you comments I have now reported the issues to Support and will await with interest their response:-

"Good Afternoon,

Currently, there appears to be problems, especially with the "Marriage Detail Fields" on the tree.

It used to be when you went to enter the details of the marriage you were presented with one set of fields.

Now there can be up to three or more sets of fields, however this seems to vary, for example sometimes there is only one, sometimes two, sometimes three, and on the individual's record I am currently on there are four.

It used to also be the case that when you entered the marriage details for one spouse that would automatically reflect in the details of the other spouse, this is not always happening now.

I have also noted that after you have entered information, in particular marriage details and source of data, making sure it is saved before you log off, quite often the next time you log on, it has disappeared.

I have not checked the details of every individual in my tree, I have over 1,000, however I am aware of many instances where I know I definitely entered details which have now disappeared.

The ongoing problems with the tree since 21 December 1012 are really very frustrating.

If you wish to discuss these current problems please call me on the number I have provided.

Regards,

James Clusker"

I was getting three marriage boxes earlier today, just checked again and it is now back to one, so whatever they done it is ok now :-S

If It Works Don't Fix It ;-)

If there is a fault you should contact support directly. I have always found that they reply reasonably promptly.

It would be nice to know what they are doing about fixing faults but I would rather they spend most of their time fixing them than in telling us what they are doing..

What is the problem with your marriage boxes?

KenSE,

Ask them, that's a laugh :-)

It is a waste of time because my experience from the problems over past three weeks with the tree is that you will get a standard response more or less saying, thank you we have passed your comments to support.

And then maybe and it is a very big maybe - you might get an answer from Support
:-(

I thought this was a thread about a couple having a fight up a tree. How very disappointing :-( Like a bit of Jeremy Kyle ;-)
