Forgive me for c & p from Wiki; "On her accession on 6 February 1952, Queen Elizabeth became Head of the Commonwealth and queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon. "

Nothing about Falklands, Isle of Man or Sark. And her ancestors regrettably lost the USA just as they began making more money than England - sorry, UK ;-)

Can we alter name of Church of England? And why can only C of E Bishops sit in House of Lords and tell us what to do in Wales and Scotland. Not Midlothian question. More a Llandaff question :-)

I agree it should be all of the country indeed.
That should include the Falkland Islands & that's very close to the good old USA John. ;-)

:-D

If the geneology is correct, the Jewish heritage runs through the female line, so even if a Jewish woman married out, any daughters could claim to be Jewish. Their daughters would also be Jewish even if they married a Gentile, but the line is lost for any sons born.

What really matters is what Faith (if any) you were raised in, or follow yourself. We've been told that the Middletons were/are nominally Christian RC.

Was just about to post that same comment John.

I feel sure facts of Kate's ancestors will have been discussed at great length, especially among the royals who,as history informs us,are a rich combination themselves ;-)

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 16 Jan 2013 11:40

One thing we can be absolutely certain of is that the Royal College of Arms would have checked Kate's forebears out to the n'th degree. None of these revelations will have been unknown to the main members of the Royal Family.

Princess Di was very much of American stock - but we never held that against her ;-)

What a shame-it would surely have re-modeled the Royal Family!

I havent googled it Rose, I found it elsewhere. If that's happening now I hope the Royals deal with it swiftly.

If that title of Defender of the Faith remains (which Prince Charles has stated he is not happy about) then she will be legally the Queen of England and all her protectorates. So any Jewish blood will not diminish her authority, rather enhance it.

Benjamin Disraeli was born Jewish, but became Messianic in later life and was quite committed to Christianity. Not sure he was the best Prime Minister, but he is well remembered during what was a Golden Age for England.

I have never found a scrap of Jewish blood yet in me. Poor me. Lucky Kate, lucky baby. :-D

Oh well a quick google rather dispels the likelyhood, but it also leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth, when one sees the anti-semitism of some of the headings ** ( edited to clarify...headings on other sites that came up when I googled the topic) :-( I despair of humanity sometimes ( often actually) I am glad I am not young anymore.

Guinevere Report 16 Jan 2013 11:07

Not quite true, BK. When a Jewish woman "marries out" as Kate's mum did, her children are not considered Jewish.

Future head of the Church of England. It will be interesting to see how they work that out?

Edit. & there will be a lot more Bank Holidays :-D

What's more interesting then will be whether the baby is a girl :-) with the change to order of succession, a girl will be the Queen one day, a Jewish Queen of England, 'Defender of the Faiths plural? or 'secular'?

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 16 Jan 2013 10:51

That is wonderful news, BK. In Christianity, Bible says that the Jew shall come first. :-D

This should prove interesting ...

In the family tree of Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William, Kate's mother is Carol Middleton, daughter of Ronald Goldsmith and Dorothy Harrison (both Jews).

The parents of Dorothy Harrison are Robert Harrison and Elizabeth Temple (both Jews).

Elizabeth Temple is a descendant of the Myers family, English Jews in the 19th century.

BOTTOM LINE: Princess Kate is a Jew on her matriarchal side. The future king of England will be a Jew according to Jewish Law and tradition.
