Were you born in England or Wales?

It may not be online. Certainly my, my eldest's (born 1980) isn't.

If you live in the country in which you were born - eg England, any local records office has ALL BMD's up until 6 months ago for that country,
You have to join, but it's free, just take along a form of identity eg passport or driving licence, and a utility bill, and search through the fiches for the relevant year and name.

Genealogy was possible before the computer......

I couldn't find my own birth on Scotland's People.

I tried other spelling etc etc and eventually found it.

They got my middle name wrong. The transcriber left out the only vowel.

I contacted SP. they said it would be amended "in due course" ~ that was about five years ago, and it hasn't been changed yet :-(
