Perfect lunch in my 'yoof' (when I weighed 7 stone, very low blood pressure - and blood sugar) was dripping on toast - the jelly from the bottom - followed by a condensed milk sandwich :-D

Morning Dizzi and all :-D

I was just thinking that Island - she was probably reading Lady C in that walk-in larder at the same time.

I was brought up on tinned peaches and evaporated milk - yum yum. Don't forget Banoffi Pie is made with condensed milk and that is delicious - not a bit fattening or anything :-D

I use both in some desserts (not at the same time!), but I use the lite one.

Condensed milk is lovely added to baked rice pudding (I make that one in the microwave).

I use evaporated milk in some soups when I don't have yoghurt (if a recipe calls for cream, but that's a no-no most of the time).

Chill a can of evaporated milk, whip it up until doubled in size, add a half-set jelly ~ easy flummery.

:-D

Oh my god l love condensed milk:))) l bought a small tin of evap milk the other day, not used it yet though, be lovely on banana's and sugar:)

My daughter was also brought up on evap milk, my sister told me about it as her son was only 4lbs when born and was fed on it. My daughter would'nt settle with powdered milk and me boobs had run dry:( By the time son was born evap milk was a no no:((

Hello DIZZI....great to see you here:)

I find condensed milk too sweet but when we were kids we never had cream we always had peaches with ideal milk for Sunday tea in the 50s. Didn't have cream until I first went to Devon with my OH to visit his family and took home some Devon clotted cream.

In the 60s I had a foster baby who was very tiny (5 punds) and he had to be fed every 2 hours on small amounts of watered ideal milk.

Stilloccasionally have ideal milk but UHT cream keeps for ages so usually have that in.

Condensed milk. Urgghh. Used to hate sterilised milk too (the one in a pop bottle that you had to open with a bottle opener). Always had a laugh when young Harold Steptoe was planning to impress a girl friend with tinned peaches and condensed milk as a desert.

Condoms? Will only comment under duress :-) ;-)
