"Shirley Stelfox played the part of 'Rose' in series 1, she is widely regarded by fans as the more aggressive and less loving 'Rose'.

Shirley Stelfox (born 11 April 1941) is an English actress, currently best known as busybody Edna Birch in the ITV soap Emmerdale since 2000.
She is also known for playing the first "Rose" in Keeping Up Appearances. She was later replaced by the late Mary Millar."

I used to be told that I looked like Susan Penhaligon (Bouquet of Barbed Wire years ago, anyone remember?), but seeing her at the theatre a couple of years ago, I don't think I do now (well, I hope I don't lol)

Kay????

Kay???? Report 19 Jan 2013 20:22

Edna Birch used to play Rose in KUA.

Koo Stark and Susan Penhaligon <3 <3 <3 <3

Can't concentrate :-( :-( :-(

I thought I also remembered Shirley Stelfox from Tenko - that programme about women with no clothes on. But no!! She was a bunny girl waitress in an early Carry On Film before going on to star as Rose before Rose got all soft and silly and fell in love with Vicar. Hope I got that all right - just off to google Woodentops :-)

AnnCardiff Report 19 Jan 2013 20:42

I stand corrected - apologies!

JustJohn Report 19 Jan 2013 21:00

AnnC :-D And you (in your alter ego of Pearl from Emmerdale) played Eunice Gee in Corrie, wife of barman Fred Gee.

And Wend. Susan Penhaligon was in film "Under Milk Wood" 40 years ago - starring Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and Peter O'Toole. She was Mae Rose Cottage and her fellow actress Ruth Madoc (Mrs Dai Bread Two) both displayed what very good actresses they were in that film. In fact, I had to google to remember that Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were also in that film. :-D ;-)

I want to be Pearl instead of Chaz Dingle. Chaz is much too flighty for me. ;-)

Wend Report 19 Jan 2013 21:18

Bet you've done quite a bit of googling to-day John ;-)

Mind you, I have too and you do look a bit like that bloke, erm . . . sorry, it'll come to me in a minute - BARB, where are you when I need you?

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 19 Jan 2013 21:19

JustGinnie Ok :-D :-D That means AnnC will have to be Chas :-0

No, I think that might work a lot better ;-) Chas is a lot younger and, as you say, flightier :-D Thank goodness it is only make-believe :-)

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 19 Jan 2013 21:41

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 19 Jan 2013 21:58

turning to Corrie - I think we'll have John to play Brian, the headmaster - Julie's OH - absolutely made for the part

Being one who absolutely detests the 'Soaps', I had to Google who on earth Eric Pollard was, having been 'likened' to him by Cocoa (TC).

Therefore, my only comment can be:

A. He's somewhat older than I.
B. I'm not fictional.
C. Character wise (based on G search) Oh dear, just how wrong can you get JLC ??
:-D

Unfortunately, ladies in particular, I cannot otherwise add to this thread, having no idea who/what you are chatting about <3 Nos da (Goodnight) !!

Thanks for this thread Rose, it's nice to have a bit of a laugh on a snowy night.
Just a bit of fun so no one should be offended if the soap character is not really like them.
I am not really a mad woman in an attic nor am I like Pearl or Chas from Emmerdale.
Or am I?? ;-) ;-) ;-)

Oh the Avengers, now who was the fellow in that think he played John Steed.
Was Emma the one who liked black leather or the one who wore mini skirts?
