As I am going to the shop, my 22yr old daughter asked if I could buy her some balloons.
What for?
She says that as it's sooooo cold and snowy outside, she wants to fill them with water with food colouring gel, and place them in the garden.
Once they have frozen solid, she will burst them, and have some lovely coloured balls to look at in the whiteout!
Am I daft to indulge her ?

yes I saw that on facebook and thought it a good idea.

One of my FB friends tried this and, after leaving the balloons half buried in snow for 24 hours, it hadn't worked. She also said it was a much messier business filling them than she thought it would be.

She thinks it might be intended for North American winters of -20 degrees.

I did this for the water play tray when I was working with the Under 5's', but on the snow sounds good.

Not just balloon's, ice cube trays,plastic containers & if you should have a jelly mould wow. ( I froze mine in my chest freezer)

Temp has been in the minuses every night for the last week.
I went to the cemetery yesterday to put down fresh flowers on a couple of graves.
Removing the dead and withered ones from the containers i found that the water in them had frozen solid.
All the stems from the dead flowers were encased in massive ice tubes!
