Just in my email in box:

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity
we have determined that you are eligible to receive
a tax refund under section 501(c) (3) of the
Internal Revenue Code. Tax refund value is £189.60.
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days
in order to IWP the data received.
This notification has been sent by the HM Revenue & Customs,

Sincerely Yours,

Well, I can't wait. I need to be IWP'd first of course. Do you think it will happen? I note many others are due £189.60, so many of us might be very lucky :-S :-S ;-)

BR I am a cynic by nature. Not that I haven't had a lot of letters from HMRC via email without an addressee on top and tailed "Sincerely Yours". Sounds kosher to me :-D

Paula. Could you ask your friend''s daughter to sort us all out with a tax rebate please :-D I think rabitting on chat lines is tax deductible :-S

Rare for me to be phished these days. I used to have so many Nigerian friends at one time.

@JAX My OH gets similar emails almost every day, but we have been told that banks building society's at al would never contact you by email.

I was under the impression that the Tax Office had made it clear on a number of occasions that they never contact clients by e mail.
Also the fact that a number of people are due exactly the same amount of refund sound a bit fishy to me.
Do be careful ;-)
& if you do get the money, don´t spend it all at once on high living.

HMRC do not use email.
They hardly ever get round to answering the telephone either.
And "Internal Revenue" is an American term, not HMRC.
If they are going to con anyone these foreign crooks are going to have to do better than that !
But I suppose there is always some vulnerable person who gets suckered otherwise they would give up.
I believe that Nigeria's economy is based on 1. Oil and 2. Computerised Fraud.

Brian :-D Too right. And when would you have tailed one of your letters about financial affairs with Sincerely Yours. I think you only tend to do that if you start a letter "Dear Jim" which I doubt HMRC would do. Unless you happen to own Starbucks ;-)

Paula :-D :-D You are awful. But I like you ;-)
