Try asking for elastic. Knicker elastic is too narrow for a waist hem and is probably not called that any more.

Fabric shops, haberdashery in department stores, market, craft shops, haberdashers online........loads of suppliers.

I've just put some knicker elastic in a pair of 007's pyjama bottoms :-D

They've been at the bottom of my 'mending' pile for 2 years :-0

The best elastic is the one made for swimwear.

Look for a shop that stocks lots of stretch fabric, especially lycra.

:-D

Do you have a place near you which does alterations and mending?

We have a little shop near us which does that but also sells buttons, ribbon, bows, velcro etc plus knicker lazzi, in fact all sizes of lazzi.
I recently replaced the lazzi in the waist of my beach shorts. :-D

Having lost a bit of weight round my middle, I am having to replace elastic in lots of clothes, skirts, pj trousers etc and I have been getting mine in Sainsburys. They do varying widths and black or white. I could re use the elastic in the clothes if they didn't have this stupid way of stitching the elastic to the fabric so you can't just pull it through and alter it. Now my waistbands are thicker cos I have to leave the original elastic in and then add a second piece that's shorter. The thing that annoyed me most was the washing instructions : To sustain elasticity it is recommended to handwash only! How daft is that?

Just been reading through the threads - for those who were talking about Ladybird clothes for kids

Woolworths still trades online and you can still buy the Ladybird brand from there.

I only wanted to know where to get new 'knicker' elastic !!!!

Really miss Woolies......
